Gambling companies rightly or wrongly have a much worser reputation in society than alcohol and tobacco companies. They’ve brought it upon themselves with their predatory practices such as bonuses and VIP events to serial losers/addicts.
The problem I have is like the article suggested, I could go buy a car or boat and affordability wouldn’t even be raised. I could buy 100 packs of cigs or 100 bottles of vodka that unlike gambling, cost the NHS and regular tax payer much more than gambling does.

They can't do much about it because it's inherently boring, a whole afternoon for about 15mins action unless the you find the minúcia interesting.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:46 amHorse racing is bang in trouble no doubt about it. Racing appears to be slowly sleep walking into oblivion and they don't seem to want to do much about it.

I was taking more about the failure to address the white paper and the implications it'll have on racing.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:03 pmThey can't do much about it because it's inherently boring, a whole afternoon for about 15mins action unless the you find the minúcia interesting.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:46 amHorse racing is bang in trouble no doubt about it. I enjoy going to the races. Off to Thirsk Friday night few pints in a lovely little market town, races and a few bets on. I enjoy the social element as much as the racing. Like most things in life you either enjoy it or you don't. Probably get to about 10 meetings a year between Sedgefield, Catterick, Newcastle and Thirsk.

Sorry for the misinterpretation. I just find horseracing to be in the same category as conceptual art (not something you hear every day), unless you take your time understanding what's written on the card then there's not much to it. People don't want to make the effort to find out what's interesting, they want their entertainment be intrinsically interesting in the first place.

That sounds like you'll be fine, if you're not losing money over time?
Or am I not reading the finer details?
How do they determine the betting patterns of somebody though, who spreads their bets around a number of different bookmakers, including shops?
Once again, perhaps I'm not reading the finer details.....but it sounds like someone wanting to buy an excessive amount of paracetamols and will visit numerous pharmacies to get them

Single customer view expected at some point, where all bookies will be sharing your data with each other. Not sure how they got this past GDPR. Will be coming later, probably several years away.LeTiss wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:02 pmThat sounds like you'll be fine, if you're not losing money over time?

I can see a situation where they can't force you to share data but refuse customers who don't sign up do it.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 1:58 pmSingle customer view expected at some point, where all bookies will be sharing your data with each other. It will just be buried away in the Ts and Cs that you already have to agree to, to use the site. Some probably have it already.Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 2:15 pmI can see a situation where they can't force you to share data but refuse customers who don't sign up do it.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 1:58 pmSingle customer view expected at some point, where all bookies will be sharing your data with each other.
