Messy. Do we want to support Wagner? We could end up supporting another nutcase.
I agree a nutcase but then he keeps saying we need to end this stupid war as we are killing are fellow brothers and sisters.

Apparently he has close links with Ukraine from his childhood.

Although the problem is mercenaries are just that, hired kill squads with no loyalty.

Maybe the CIA has offered him $$$$$$ to turn against Putin. We know from history that the CIA itself has no morales whatsoever!!!!!!
Well this is the first development we've wished for. It's for Russian's to decide. I have everything crossed to hope the Russians get things sorted.
Two outcomes:

1. He changes tact and starts attacking Russian positions causing Russian military to basically leg it. Leading to the FSB removing Putin via an accident.

2. He gets killed or put in prison for 50 years. Putin has powerful friends but so does that nut case and Putin would be looking over both shoulders for eternity.

Conscripts are no match for a loyal well armed army and certainly no match for battle hardened troops earning 100 x what they do every day.

Next few days could be very interesting indeed.

Perhaps it is. Although where would we be if that was the attitude in 1939 after the invasion of Poland. Its up to the Germans to decide what they do with their leader and hope they do the right thing?

I understand the reference, but I don't think the scenario is the same. Hitler was a total nutter in the face of a niave opponent. Putin is clever and knows he faces a formidable opponent. MAD is still relevent, much as I hate the concept.

The good news is that the vast majority of the Chechens are either dead, captured or went home.

WW1 type trench warfare is not the best life experience. Rather shocking that’s going on in 2023.

I know it has to be reported but I wish the special BBC programmes this week would not show someone’s arm being blown off as I tucking into fish, chips and ketchup.

Watching a Russian, on his own, trying to storm a Ukraine position with 1 hand grenade made me wonder, is he completely mad or been told he be shot if he didn’t.

War is nuts, the sooner this ends the better.

The head of the Wagner group said:

“The Ministry of Defence is trying to deceive the public, deceive the president and tell a story that there was some crazy aggression by Ukraine, that - together with the whole Nato bloc - Ukraine was planning to attack us," he said.

My god, he must have a death wish for saying that. It’s bloody cold in Siberian prisons.

Breaking News:

Security lockdown in Moscow. Wagner forces are approaching from 3 sides.

Russia activating 'Operation Fortress'

Senior Russian generals have called on Wagner fighters to stand down, saying they are playing "into the enemy's hands"

This all could go very wrong. If the US thinks Putin is cornered and might do something stupid then they might think it’s better to strike first.

CNN reporting Biden is being kept up to date with intelligence by the minute. Poor bloke probably needs his sleep.

WTF is going on here ?

I remember Jasper Carrott saying back in the 80s, we treat our old people like children, shut them away in homes, talk to them as though they're all demented, they make theirs president.

All kicking off in Russia, this is wonderful news to wake upto - anything that undermines Putin and increases the chances of him being toppled.

This must be a great time for Ukraine to initiate a large offensive push just to increase the pressure on Evil Putin.

Bit of a loose cannon the Wagner leader however he and his troops have been on the frontline and seen it all first hand, there mercenaries so they don't have any real affiliation to Russia , if they did they'd be enlisted in the Russian army.

Putin is going to address the nation very soon so sounds like as Wagner forces have now entered Russia via the Ukraine vowing to topple Russia's military top brass. Sounds like some sort of revenge/bribery mission.

Hopefully the Russian's are in a bit of disarray and Ukraine can use this to their advantage.

Putin looking very angry indeed. "Wagner Group rebellion is treason", this could get very messy if the Russian people start getting behind Wagner Group

Why would they? Notorious group with unattractive "leader".

Starting to look like the roman empire when an aggrieved general in the field decides to March on Rome to get recognition he felt due (Sulla).

Didn't stop the empire continuing for another 500yrs despite all the deaths though...

"In total control of the city and its affairs, Sulla instituted a proscription (a program of executing and confiscating the property of those whom he perceived as enemies of the state)"

==> betcha if he is successful that will be the next step...

Possibly because they've had enough of Putin and his lies coupled with the amount of body bags coming home. No one really knows what the reason people thing as there constantly suppressed with state TV propaganda and anyone who speaks out or goes against Putin is jailed or murdered.

Hopefully Ukraine can take advantage and drive Russian forces from it's lands.
