Sorry to be contary, but if a pupil finishes school without a single day of sickness, never mind bunking off to watch the Cheltenham Festival, that is truly mindblowing. :)
I was one. Its not difficult or newsworthy.
Are we talking secondary school, five years without missing a day?
Apart from 1 day to attend my maternal grandmother's funeral.

You deserve a knighthood for that, there can't be many kids who've never been ill for five years. :)

My Mum was a teacher. She could spot a sick kid with ease. My sister (2 years older than me) had her tonsils removed so my Mum was well acquainted with genuine illness. And despite having standard childhood colds her examination of my throat always led to "you're fine".
And she was right. Uncomfortable though it was. Lord knows how many of my schoolmates I infected.
The worst cold I had accompanied by halucinations occured over a weekend, so I was back in school on Monday.
Even when I broke my arm Dad delivered me to school by car, for 1 day. The one and only time that happened. How times have changed!

We may not get much hot weather over here but do we really need a panel of experts to tell us how to keep cool?
  • Don't sit in the sun
  • Drink water
  • Don't run a marathon today

If you buy bacon in a plastic box that's gonna happen, but they need to because its 50% water. Our butcher wraps everything in paper, the greengrocer uses paper bags too. Real shops, real product, 'real' people making a decent wage.

You're certainly right about the water in bacon. Fry a couple of rashers and you've got a swimming pool!

I've heard some butchers don't use colouring in their meat. It looks off to people used to buying from supermarkets but it's actually supermarket meat that looks as bright red as a traffic light that's abnormal.

+1 how supermarkets have warped our perception of quality. 1st world problem, of course, but deflating nontheless.

My advice in hot weather is drink your beer quickly and have a cigarette before opening another can. If you're not careful, the last swig of beer is like drinking warm coffee!

Britain should no longer consider itself a cold country, according to climate scientists. Try telling us that in the winter time when we're all freezing our bollocks off!
