"Safety" is the alleged reason I don't ever remember a plane catching fire on the runway because someone had a fag indoors.... But I DO remember some crashing after someone had got themselves all hyped up on 'god'.

It's like those people who say they 'can't' lose weight, however hard they try. "It's my genes, I have a predisposition to being obese" Whenever you see coverage from some part of the world suffering a famine, and there's just a sea of poor buggers who are only skin and bone you never see a fat person sitting in the middle of them. "Oh look, he must have the FTO gene"

Thanks Pat. I've only been smoking for 47yrs and didn't know that.

I see they've got a Wetherspoons for addicts of that drug though. It makes no sense at all.

I suppose it comes down to space. You'd need an outdoor smoking area and the way most airports are designed doesn't help.

I remember in 1994, being a smoker, on my way to Australia and stopping off in Hong Kong. Needed somewhere to smoke at the airport and found it. I opened the door and couple of minutes later puked my guts up. I have no idea how many people where in this room but the seriously large air filters were failing one by one. I could have kissed everyone in the room, make and female and none of us would have known.

They say there's no need to go abroad this summer, it's hotter over here. Is it windy where you are? Do you have to search for where your cigarette packet has been blown when you want a smoke or hold on to a can of beer that's a quarter-full or risk having its content blown onto your lap?

It's not just about temperature it's about culture, cuisine, lifestyle, language & experiences blah blah blah. But I suppose if "abroad" means sitting in a hot British themed pub eating a roast dinner then they might as well stay at home.
