Awesome advice from everybody thank you, i hope nobody feels my post has hijacked this thread in any way. After a few days away from trading and really looking a closely at how ive been trading so far ive come a to some of the same conclusions myself and a lot of it really does come down to mindset.

Trading is nothing like Matched Betting although by learning to match bet the knowledge ive gained of how markets work has made it easier for me to transition into trading but setting targets is definitely something i will no longer be doing as it has undoubtedly clouded my judgement a few times. I know a few people questioned my logic of "quitting while youre ahead" but i feel that learning to trade is a very long on going process and at two months in i dont think theres any harm in it for me personally knowing how i approach learning new skills etc, im more interested in taking small but gradual steps even though my losses last week dont reflect that so i will be dropping my stakes right back down and concentrating on executing better trades and focusing on improving my strategies rather than blindly chasing numbers

Also I realised that when i trade NFL for example i have a very disciplined strategy taking positions and exiting them based on what the market is doing and not what i hope will happen on the field. What i havent been doing is putting that discipline into my football trading and instead ive been hanging on for those one or two ticks just to get to a round number and ignoring the market and the run of play.

Another HUGE mistake i think i made was not doing enough research before trading in a market, i think if id done a little bit more to find out about the football teams id traded on, the players on the field and past form etc i probably wouldnt have traded those markets at all. Blindly going into every trade assuming it will make you money is probably the biggest rookie mistake of them all I would assume but correct me if im wrong

Anyway Ive rambled on enough, im loving this forum and reading through as much as i can and thanks again for all the feedback so far.
