It's a one-man job Andy. The guy who's doing the race reading could just as easily place the bet himself by pressing a button on his phone, in fact, it would actually be quicker! If it made any money he could just sack you and go alone!fatboyeno wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 3:28 pmHi Shaun
Thanks for the reply, no need to find something complicated for it to be a better idea. If it works then it works and I have won using it, not a theory. My problem is I'm too slow alone doing it all.
No race reading skills needed it's very simple but a 2 man job.
I don't see why you think it's a bad idea to use binoculars and actually see what's going on in real time.. I'd choose live date over delayed video and reading fake money trying to move the markets.
I will explain it to you in pm if you really like just for the fun off it even tho you can't help me.
Cheers! This is fun![]()

I do it alone but haven't felt the need to sack myself just yet.
You get 2 secs max while the opertunity is there, it's too slow to put binoculars down and pick up tablet.
I like how people don't even Wana hear what the system is and I guess that's a good thing for me. I only need 1 person to be interested.

That will happen shortly (traders teaming up with pro drone flyers) then there will be a battle on where they can/can't fly due to TV rights and horse safety etc.
I'm surprised it's not happened sooner
Drone pilot could be hidden 5 miles away and you could be anywhere even sat at home getting a live feed from it
Only problem with getting a feed you will likely have a delay, might aswell have TV pics at that point up closer than a drone.Dallas wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:56 pmThat will happen shortly (traders teaming up with pro drone flyers) then there will be a battle on where they can/can't fly due to TV rights and horse safety etc.

my sons drone (mavic pro 2) has a measureable delay but i'd rate it in 600-800 milliseconds, rather than 4-5 seconds as per live pics. I wasn't seriously suggesting the use of drones, tho i have long wondered when we'll see them emerge in trading.fatboyeno wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 6:01 pmOnly problem with getting a feed you will likely have a delay, might aswell have TV pics at that point up closer than a drone.Dallas wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:56 pmThat will happen shortly (traders teaming up with pro drone flyers) then there will be a battle on where they can/can't fly due to TV rights and horse safety etc.

[edit] - hook that up with a bespoke OCR software platform and you'd be able to identify the front runner (saddlecloth number) with some degree of accuracy and place bets via an integrated api anywhere remote from the course. that said, seems a lot of effort for a thin advantage...
Y, images from a drone will be in real-time, certainly less than 1-sec delay.jimibt wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 6:19 pmmy sons drone (mavic pro 2) has a measureable delay but i'd rate it in 600-800 milliseconds, rather than 4-5 seconds as per live pics. A drone pilot could charge £250 per person and transmit the images to several traders/bettors (whether they are aware of each other or not)

I'll do it for £175 using my wifi bins in the grandstand. Unless jocks start wearing their number on top of their cap a drone will struggle.
Meanwhile, I'll just replace/reprogram a couple of the buttons on my wifi binoculars and place some trades myself. All the tech exists, all you need to do is bolt it together. Surveillance gear is quite cool and quite affordable these days.
fatbotyeno, don't worry about not having BA on Android, someone could easily write a basic app that did what you need for not a lot.
If things don't exist for what you need, make them exist. Otherwise you'll only be as good as someone using the same off-the-shelf kit as you.
Can you not hold the binoculars with one hand and have your smartphone in the other?fatboyeno wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:24 pmDerek

I'm sure a lot of IR backers will have their smartphone set up with a custom app and will only have to press a button, they'd have a major advantage over you.
If your system involves backing at 1.01 it's not really hard to guess the basis of it - there is only one reason why anyone would want to back at that price.

Why does someone need to be at home? Use RF and send it to someone in the carpark. Or as I said above, just have the guy with the bins doing it, they don't even need to look away. Might seem complicated but If you're cutting someone in for a few hundered a week you might as well invest that money and go solo.
