Who will replace Gareth Southgate?

Football, Soccer - whatever you call it. It is the beautiful game.

You laugh, but the FA will be desperate to fill the role with someone that meets their Leadership Diversity Code.

Currently the only two names on the whole Betfair list that would qualify are Sarina @ 140, and Rio Ferdinand @ 700.
RIO FERDINAND!!!!!!!
Exactly. I bet they at least interview Sarina.

I really don’t see how Eddie gets it. His new contract was £5 million. The same as Southgate departed on. He wouldn’t leave for less that £7 million plus there is 100% clause in his contract. So it’s going to cost the FA around £14 million etc.

Just read on Fotball365 that Pep has been made an offer from England he can't refuse. He's always said he will see out his current contract, that ends June 2025. That would give him a year before the World Cup, which is possibly the title he now coverts.
If that happens then Potter or Carsley as an interim would be fine for the FA.
But he's a Spaniard would he choose England over Spain at any price? I doubt money is a motivator for him anymore (but perhaps it is for his agent).

Potter shortening. Can't really undestand this. He's relatively young. England management is usually a swansong. He has no top level achievement, but I guess better than Gareth bfore he became England manager. Struggling to unravel what the FA will do.

Potter wasn’t rated by Brighton supporters, the same type of negative play that Southgate was accused of.

Personally I think he would be a very bad appointment.

Me too. But I'm biased. I've got money on Carsley. :-)
Everything seems to be in stasis waiting for The FA to fail/succeed to convince Howe and NUFC. Then we should see the truth of the matter.

Carsley briefly shot out to nearly 20.0 before returning rapidly to 4ish. Whoever was on that must be very happy.
Finally the market seems to be looking at Potter or Carsley.

Glen Johnson has said Lampard or Gerrard would be popular appointments. Errrr!!!! Neither has EPL success. Gerrard is despised by many (for reasons I don't understand as he is a footy hero for me) and Lampard is definitely a bit ...... wishy washy.

Gerrard and Lampard achieved nothing as club managers. They both might be popular with some fans but you need someone with a proven track record of winning competitions/trophies at club and/or at international levels.

Zero chance of either of these IMO. They don't tick any of the FA's key boxes.

I'm speculating wildy here. But the silence from the FA suggests to me they are running around like loonies trying to find a replacement for Carsley at u21.
They said they had a plan to replace Southgate.
Nations League in a month guys. Doesn't seem like a plan to me.

According to the FA website.

We are no longer accepting applications for this position.

England's all-important next three matches are 7th Sep, 10th Sep, and 10th Oct.

Seems more and more likely there will be a caretaker boss and if they cover these three games then Betfair settle the market.

Lee Carsley into even money.

It’s Eddie Howe, things not long rosey at board level.

Carsley announced England "interim coach" for the next two games. Price is into 1.4 on Betfair to last the required three games to get settled.
