Careful
We are doing some work on the server today so you are routed via log on elsewhere. This will not affect your connection speed to Betfair when connected. The log on process is simply done via a server and completely seperate and that is running slightly slower today.

Ok, I guess that's our answer then. Thanks BA for the reply
Betfair response: -
Hi Peter,
Ok, thanks.
We believe that we have identified the cause of the issue and will take remedial action by installing additional equipment. This will go into service on Wednesday.
We will then monitor the impact of this change and would be grateful for your feedback following this coming weekend.

What surprised me in the reply I got was that they were unaware of this problem until this weekend and even then only a handful of users reported issues. Surely this was affecting everyone every Saturday!?!?
Affected me too. I didn't write to them this time like I have before but I suppose I should have. Maybe others were suffering from the same apathy. Perhaps there could be a dedicated topic here (yes like this one) with the sole intention of alerting people if the api is playing up, then everyone who is affected should immediately contact betfair and can be sure it is a betfair issue and not a local problem. The more complaints they get the more likely they are to take it seriously
these problems have been affecting me but, i have just been switching to mode 1. although a bit sticky, very useable; in fact i have found the last few saturdays in particular quite easy to trade once the api goes tits up. i put it down to the majority of people trying to trade with a sticky/slow screwed api. i might be wrong and its just coincidental.
i have given emailing betfair, they really get on my nerves.

I am finding it almost untradable today, responsiveness up above 1 sec frequently, is it a recurrent problem on Saturdays with people betting on the Soccer overloading Betfair's servers?

Seems to be a bit better now we are past the big betting race of the day.
Normally I have 2 pc's 1 api another non-api on saturdays, of course this week didn't!! Whilst api was crap (really crap) upto about 3.30, I couldn't log on to 2nd betangel on pc no2 on either api or non-api. As soon as api starts to settle, get straight on with 2nd pc!! This didn't pi$$ me off in the slightest

Betfair email us this morning: -
"We identified a problem with one of our load balancers on Saturday and carried out some work on Saturday evening to address this.
This would have had a detrimental impact on any traffic that was hitting the load balancer with errors, but was not API service specific.
Please can you let me know if any specific problems were reported on Sunday relating to API performance?"
