Storm Atiyah aftermath could play a part as some reports saying wavering/elderly voters could stay at home.

Never thought i'd be watching the weather for a impact of a GE market

Is Atiyah as big a deal as the papers are making out? There are 2 yellow metoffice weather warnings for Highlands & Eilean Siar | Strathclyde "Heavy rain may cause some transport disruption across western Scotland on Saturday afternoon and evening." and
London & South East England | North West England | South West England | Wales "Severe gales are expected and may cause some disruption." and all done by Tuesday.
Yellows in my recent experience are about as scary as a wet paper bag, but don't get me started on the forecasters/media crying wolf with the weather.

Most seats drifted slightly this morning but Con Maj came in. Would have thought the two were correlated.

He's an entertaining guy and knows his stuff.

I read your laughable defence of Gordon Brown selling our gold reserves the other day - you need some alternative sources of info.

'Laughable defence' it was a statement not a defence, Frank, maybe you need to get yourself an English O level before looking for your alternative sources of info. And if you consider Godfrey's comments about " bongo bongo land" etc entertaining so be it , not really my genre of entertainment.

Isn't the national debt ie govt securities (gilts) simply the equivalent of share issues by PLC's. Its a statement of confidence in their ability to use the money they recieve, service the borrowing by regular interest payments and ultimately pay back the principal. All nations do this. We are UK PLC and are borrowing to invest with the confidence we can grow the economy and pay the loans back with interest over the long term.
People forget the credit crunch and the vast bailouts. That stuff doesn't go away over a decade.
If gilts were a dodgy investment nobody would buy them. So you're really arguing with hard-headed investors that their investment is stupid.
