Not again!
I slept through the first outage and I decided to do another network reinstallation today, as the first one was flawed, so I avoided the second outage as well. But the way things are going my luck will soon run out - hope nobody was badly hurt by yesterday's problems.
Betfair Down / Betfair site crash
Because of betfair crash I lost on Newton Abbot 20 $. I had an open trade and I let my closing bet to be take it at Starting Price, but the race never went in play so no SP activated. Seeing this, after 15 seconds since the race started I hedged manually the trade, but now I see that betfair voided my closing bets and remained with 20 $ liability in play.
Can I do something about this and ask them an refund? It's not a big loss, but sure I'm not the only one in this situation.

It would help if Betfair laid out clear rules in their T&C defining how bets in these situations are handled on the exchange. Trading's not practical when we're unaware of whether or not a bet will be honoured or voided until after the race, and I don't think punters would be too happy about it either.Bog wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 5:02 amBecause of betfair crash I lost on Newton Abbot 20 $. Reckon you traded out and got the SP bet matched
I traded out manually when I saw the race didn't went in play and my SP was still their unmatched
My closing bet for the trade it was set to be take it at SP when the race is suspended and turned in play. But the race didn't suspended and turn it in play. So when I saw that, I canceled the bet that should have been take it at SP and closed manually the trade after 15 sec since the race started. And they voided that bet

It's not the first time- on greyhounds also, if they "forget" to suspend the market and you trade out manually after the race started they will void your trade out bet!!
Derek, betfair rules in their T&C are made to protect them, they always win...

If it was a BSP Lay bet, is has to meet a minimum liability of £10. If you traded out some in play and the remainder fell below the minimum, then it ignores the rest. (Same applies if the remainder falls below the £2 minimum)Bog wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 6:29 amI traded out manually when I saw the race didn't went in play and my SP was still their unmatched

Anyone got the CEO's email address ?
I am sure if he got thousands of complaints then he might start to worry about his £11.6 Million salary.
We just need a standard template and slightly change the subject line so they can't automatically block them.

uninstalling Bet Angel sorry to say.... How can I have any faith that when I open a position, like i did last night, that Betfair won't crash and leave me with NO way of closing my position.
I took a hammering last night and as usual Betfair just shrugged thier shoulder and said "tough shit"..
Thanks for the Fun Peter Webb but can't trust these Applications any longer.
Bye

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but I should point out that it's not the Bet Angel application that you can't trust, it's the Betfair exchange that failed yesterday.johndunlop1000 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 9:31 amuninstalling Bet Angel sorry to say.... john - sorry about your experiences with BF. If it's any small consolation, any software that interfaces with BF, be that BA, other 3rd party vendors or BF's web client would have all suffered the same fate, as the culprit was the Betfair Exchange itself.
Whilst I agree that this is not a perfect situation and definitaly one that BF should take seriously, it is (at present) a risk that one must accommodate for (even if that sounds unacceptable) when trading on the exchange. Many have mitigating fallbacks in place, such as Betdaq accounts. Whilst this doesn't address the BF cockups, it does ensure that you at least get a chance to close off at smaller losses than if it were left in the lap of the gods.
These outages used to be very few and far between and would typically last an hour or so. We've now had two in the space of two weeks, so creating a funded Betdaq account is a must now for any user that is trading on a frequent basis.
