Happy days, it still works. Basically a no risk even money bet for free.

Betfair used to have a clause in the T&C that laying your free bet invalidates it, as bookies do with arbing on another market with the same bookie.

They never seem to invalidate it though which i find strange. Probably end up with all my free bets getting reclaimed one day in a lump sum

Been there before, many moons ago. I think I may have fallen under the radar a little with affordability checks though, I don't make a habit of depositing... I just recycle the same balance over and over, not deposit, withdraw, deposit withdraw etc.

Not sure about the free bet theory though, I love a good conspiracy, but it has to at least be believable

At least in the version you posted the audience on TOTP are sort of into it... I suppose that's what passed as dancing in the 70's? Just standing on the spot shaking! To be fair Jimmy Saville could have been there and they were just all terrified!
