The Gremlin's refusing the Brazilian aircraft manufacture access to inspect the aircraft wreckage. They must be confident it was no accident. :)
The manufacturer withdrew maintenance support as part of the sanctions. I guess this scores two points in Putin's deluded mind.
1. Two fingers up to anyone that sanctions his regime.
2. Prevents any other truth than his own about what happened.

There you have it, the manufacturer is to blame.

I guess it's probably not safe to travel on any civilian aircraft in Russia.

Certainly any aircraft made outside Russia that has had it's maintenance contract withdrawn due to sanctions.
I have no need to be flying on any such plane, but I would pay close attention if i was going to. And would probably elect to take the train.

Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, says Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow will not go unpunished, they'll go unreported instead.

I'm all for detente but there are limits.
"Ukraine war: Kim Jong Un 'to visit Putin for weapons talks'".

Doesn't Putin realise he's dragging Russia's reputation through the gutter?

Would probably be best for Russia to rebrand under a different name.

But Putin seems extremely close-minded, any new idea that someone brings instantly goes out the window.

There are people saying Putin is steeped in the history of Russia.
That makes it all the more remarkable that after all the wars external and civil Russia has been involved in he still thinks it a spiffing idea to invade a neighbour.
I mean Napolean, Hitler, Crimean war. These weren't piddling little spats.
When I step back like this I'm both baffled and fear my faith in humanity is missplaced.
Or maybe I'm just grumpy 'cos it's too hot for me today.

I think people were spot on when they said this full-scale invasion was the last kick of a dying empire, Russia's neighbours called that correctly from the off.

All things considered it really is the last real empire and Putin will go down in history as one of their weakest leaders, if you listened to his musings that's what he believes and what he's trying to prevent. His gamble almost worked, but Ukraine and the West are more or less playing this out brilliantly, with incremental escalation across the board. A more cautious approach was always the play with stakes this high.

Meanwhile China is more of an old-fashioned dynasty still, they seem more worried about imploding from within (have a look at the recent incredible floods they endured) than invading others.

Apart from Hong Kong, Taiwan and China's internal modus operandi, I have no problem with China. I think the political and media furore around "nasty" china is due to the fact China is very, very good at adaptive pragmatism. While our politicaians sit and whine about poor productivity and do nothing about it, China has transformed itself in a matter of decades.

17 Russians arrested in Cuba for trying to recruit mercenaries. If found guilty they could face the death penalty. :D

Well that's a bit harsh towards Derek and myself

Unless you were referring to the cute girl and the funny airsoft player in the clip

Not you and Derek. The rest is subjective opinion. I stand to be corrected but a bimbo exploring and fondling a Bentley or a nutjob doing the same with some sort of military vehicle doesn't really float my boat. But I guess, if I don't like it I should move on and keep quiet. :-) I'll try, I really will. :-)
