That really did make me laugh out loud. But hey. The title of the thread allows pretty much anything other than personal abuse, and neither of the protaganists will stoop to that. And personally I have been entertained by the posts of both. It's a bit like a joust, kind of interesting, but why would you do it?

It's really patronising and insulting to assume people who use foodbanks can't cook or need budgeting help so I'm not in the least surprised people take offence. Well firstly I don't see those remarks as offensive and secondly I've never said that direct to somebody in that position, I've offered to help, (but i do appreciate that a member of the loony left couldn't resist the temptation to draw a conclusion that was not there). I've offered to go shopping with them and help them buy cheaper stuff and cook it but am always met with a "I don't need help to shop or cook thank you, my problem is not having enough money" type response. Horse dying of dehydration comes to mind.
I never said they have lost their cooking skills I'm saying they never had them! Who teaches them how to cook on a budget these days? Schools don't, not all parents do. You weren't until a neighbour showed you how and I expect that was in a time when most neighbours were neighbourly. My mum hated where she lived at the end because all the new families in the street (council estate before you think it was private housing) just ignored her and others. She lived through 'the war' when you had to be frugal with your shopping and ingredients but many 30-40 year olds nowadays are used to things being on demand, they have no experience of 'being short'.

I didn't draw any conclusions from what you said, it's offensive to say poor people can't cook as though they're all the same. It's as bad as saying black people can't cook, and it's that attitude that will get the Tories kicked out at the next election. I did say "with views like that". If you discriminate against or stereotype people who are hard-up, you don't need to actually say anything offensive, your attitude towards them will show.
There's an obvious contradiction in your third remark. If poor people never had cooking skills then when somebody loses their job and becomes poor they must not only lose their cooking skills but they must never have had them in the first place!

Good. If you want the economy to improve you do it by improving wages and stimulating demand for goods and services.
And you can't moan about the exchange volume being down at the same time as wanting everyone on the breadline, greater disposable income translates directly to improved prospects for us. The fundamental thing about our job is that we can't earn more unless everyone else has the money to spend and pay our wages. Hopefully the bus drivers like a bet

I take it you're not signed up to the philosophy that increased wages fuels inflation?
It really makes me laugh when people purchase lottery tickets knowing that they're too lazy to check their numbers and they have to take them to the lottery outlet and ask if they've won a few million. 
I've never known people in bookies to do that and if they have won the jackpot the shop assistant might bag it for themselves.

Its net disposable that fuels inflation and we're a long way from Joe Public having money to just spend with abandon. Putting someone on the lowest level of the hierarchy of needs and then blaming them for inflation is ridiculous.

I remember the days when the pubs and bookies were busy, and it was blue collar workers with a spare few quid filling them. I don't remember it causing much inflation.
