I am willing to share what I think is important because it might make somebody become a better punter. if i have an edge over the next punter I am willing to share. Punting is enjoyable and exciting and can be an income maker. As I say continuously money management is the key to success. It works for me. I am really unable to explain my selections as they are not automatic rather I exclude some horses as they do not fit my requirements - ie NEVER lay a horse that is coming back from a spell. I never bet for a place as I have over a period been unsuccessful. I never bet on big races - ie Melbourne Cup. I never bet in small fields etc. I am unable to prove these NEVERS but I have found them to be correct for me. As I write this we have a race in Dundalk. The field is all over $6.00 - I would never bet this race as the market indicates many potential winners. Have a great weekend
Newaustralian you already have your own thread on your Aussie view. This is a thread about Seahorseracing's progress, frankly I couldn't give a fuxk about how your day or bets have gone. Good luck to you and keep that winning streak up.

SHR has contributed to this forum quite a while now via replies, requests, and his general opinion on things which is much appreciated in a friendly community like this forum.
I look forward to SHR's updates, not so much to others trying to hijack a thread ;)
Made me   anyway :D

The BT cabinet in the street 'should' be good for about 30-60mins in an outage. My 700va UPS only powers things (pc/screens/router/1 lamp) for about 2mins but it's plenty long enough.

Did you know you can turn your phone into a hotspot? I put a £9 wifi dongle in my normally wired pc and it switches to it seemlessly if BT goes down. Best £9 I've spent since that night out in Bangkok.
Thank you for some good advice. Certainly going to take some on board. Please tell me more about the done... would save me time in having to fire up the laptop or mobile if the Internet goes. ..

its a nice fred seahorse and if it really does help you keep it up for as long as it does.

it may not be a bad idea to have a least one day a week away from trading including looking at this forum, or anything else to do with trading etc. it really can have a positive impact on your trading by having a total break each week for a day or so. :)

Do you keep notes or a journal?

I did, and it proved invaluable to me.
I wrote every trade and bet down, and why I done that, what was I seeing. I then wrote down the result, and my emotions too

I really started to see patterns emerge when i re-read my notes. I detected the similar mistakes I was making, and I noticed what made me consistent profits. I was also able to control the rushes of blood to my head, and my general anger when things turned against me

It might not be for everyone, but it certainly benefitted me

I used post it notes and stuff them behind my monitor to remind me of errors. When I was confident I wasn't making them I removed that note, eventually all of them were gone. But it's a good visual reminder of bad habits when you start.

to75ne- I agree with you and most certainly something I should look at because I trade every single day. Every time I have taken a break, I have come back better and stronger. Thanks.

LeTiss- Yes I have a little black book and I am about to finish my second. I have a note for every single trade I have ever made, I have the result, feeling of emotions and what I think I did wrong. I use black pen for a winning trade and red pen on a losing trade. Even if I made a profit all my notes are simply objective, so if I made errors but still made a profit I make a comment why and what I did was wrong. Yesterday everyone of my winning trades had a comment of errors or broken rules. I never made a profit yesterday so it shows that It was me why I didnt profit as my profitable trades were still poor. I am very proud of my black book and I dont think I will ever stop using it. Its great because everyday I start the page with some notes to practise on. Thank you. I am not sure I ever asked this before but I am guessing your from Southampton? I grew up in Bitterne but moved to Wales two years ago, Will be moving back to west end hopefully in the next 18 months.

Euler- I have tried to use post it notes but I find I get so indulged in my trading that I forget to look at them. Maybe I should give it another go. Thanks.

Morning - sorry to those who considered I was attempting to "hijack a thread" I was attempting to assist by showing the value of money management by the example of my trading. If I can consistently make money given my lack of knowledge of horse racing but my ability to money management and no emotion most people could. Sorry once again

I have to ask myself why strangers want to help me? The answer is they don't, its to sell BA (which is fine) and to beat me in the markets, no other reason. Harsh but its reality.

I'd have to agree, but you need to remember the majority of the people posting the advice are just as clueless as the people they're preaching to. Obviously the BA staff need to post here on a regular basis to give the forum credibility but I doubt many full time traders do.

But that's basically what happens on every forum out there, nothing new, people want somewhere to brag and tell others about their success whilst conveniently forgetting their errors. This is probably the fourth username shr has used and every previous one has told us what a success he's been, no dout when this goes tits up he'll start another one too.

The reality is most people on here don't have a clue or any chance of making it as a trader but I doubt many of them care either as it's just something to do other than go bored watching the TV. So if people want to kid themselves and others as to how well they're doing is it really a big deal? Your own profit and loss is the one thing that'll tell you how successful you are or not and that's a bit harder to fiddle hence the reason you only ever see the 'money shot' profit and loss shots.

Frankly, the posts perhaps weren't meant for you then? Nobody is forcing you to read them and it reeks of arrogance to presume that just because you might not appreciate a given post, that no-one else does?

It is very difficult for things not to bother you when you take it so seriously. like I do. I have been here and seen it even behaved in a similar way. Its best to try and ignore it Crzyskier.
Good point mate.
Really want to keep this on topic otherwise no one will be interested to post if it is full of winging. Lets get back to why were here, learning to trade and making some money.

Just to clairify incase some dont understand.

This topic is not to show how much I can make or to hide any losses or make out something exist if it doesnt.

I have created this topic because I am dedicated to what I want to do and If I can get help and help others along the way thats great. It has nothing to do about how much I make. I am at the begning of my trading career and I still have so much to learn.

I am beleiver that sometimes in life you need help to get where you want. I dont sit and write on this forum because I am bored or have nothing better to do. I am at my desk trading and I use the forum.
Seriously, I honestly am not interest to bicker with anyone and would fully appreciate if we can keep this on topic.

I agree SeaHorseRacing. The topic is Trading Diary.

Quick example of todays Diary:
Bloody Sunday.PNG
My entire days profit. The 13.00 Race was only three geegees.
1 Forgotten Gold 11/4
2 Caulfields Venture 7/4
3 Godsmejudge 11/8F

The price went off the scale on Forgotten Gold.
The only thing I got out of it was schadenfreude (german word)

28 PENCE for a whole afternoons work. (Also got dorked at 15.20 for 27QUID).

If anybody think this is boasting.
Thank God for Saturdays..PNG
Yesterday was was also a DORKING.

But a bit more profitable. :D

Somebody on the forum wants sound alerts, somebody else want ladders to centre, etc. etc.

I WANT BIG FLASHING LIGHTS AND SIRENS GOING OFF.

When I am in dorking mode.

I can do diary by simply using Betfair and collating the info, by using BetAngel and the log files what I can't work out is why I cannot "see" a situation before it becomes a goddamm crisis.

So, SHR. Somedays are good and Somedays are bad. DORKdays make me mad

If you've got nothing better to do today - work out from the above what my P&L would have been without the DORKING.
May as well get a paper round otherwise - at leat the pay is regular.

Kerberus :ugeek:

Hi Ruthlessimon can't understand why he's using the ladder. You can hear him battering the keyboard to keep it centred. I'm not that fast. I use the one-click with Back set to £2x and Lay set to £1/2x. £2-£.5 or £4-£1 etc. then Autoarrange the Back from bottom to top so it matches the overview chart.
Like this:-
Tartiing Layout.PNG
use the ladder on a separate screen with hotkeys to get rid of backs and lays that I don't want. I aim for Mr Green first then just balance the budget or "Tart up". No good having a fiver on all the horses when half of them should be shot. It's humane really - the only blood loss is me spitting! Got greening on as a get-out clause. Works most weeks but having a problem the last week or so with positions rocketing in the evening races and today Sunday, that 1st race defied logic - negative 50 quid for breakfast what a way to start!

Had to battle through Navan as well to make up. Should have been a nice easy afternoon!

Ho-hum. BlackHat - if you are on the forum - you get the overview graph to float by right clicking on the top border and keep it in place using deskpins just google deskpins - (freeware) - never worked out what the microcharts are for and really all's you need is
Back/Lay and amounts preset. And bob's your uncle.

Liked the video, your ladder setup is the same as mine with the BF charts below and at 5sec, but instead of B10 L10
I use B10 L5 - gives extra tick of green on a B2L strategy.

How the hell do you juggle coffee?
Subscribed, will watch the rest later when I've stopped spittin' blood. Thanks for suggesting Ruthless (or do you prefer simon?)
NEED more coffee!
Kerberus   28 PENCE - I'll check the corner shop see if they want a paperboy!
