Mercenary players and mercenary clubs.
I recently cancelled my Sky subscription (BLM and the constant virtue signalling was the final straw for me). They can do what they want now, but I won't be paying for it.
I could never get over the loss of terraces and stopped going to matches many moons ago. The Premier League should never have been allowed to happen - that was the start of the slippery slope.

Well I'm stunned!!!!! Not by this news but by this thread....page 6 and not one response from Kai, that's deafening lol
My first reaction to this was the same as Gary Nevilles but then I sat and reflected on it for a bit and I think it was inevitable and dare I say it needed by the big six. I know this won't sound popular but truth is often harsh. This is analogous between hedge funds becoming too large and struggling under their own weight and ultimately collapsing. The big six are so far ahead of the rest but size can ultimately be the undoing of a company. These mega companies (United/Liverpool/City/Chelsea/Tottenham/Arsenal) are the worst hit when income isn't stable and they cannot afford to have the burden of "relegation" hanging over them and they want to participate in something they can't be relegated from that will provide stable income. They may not be able to get relegated from the PL but they can no longer guaranteed top four as even teams like Leicester/West Ham/Everton can a throw a spanner in that works and six never went into four anyway and if someone else like Leicester nicks a place then six into three works far less.
So they could easily be "relegated" from CL football for 4/5 seasons out of 10, more in some cases and that would have huge financial consequences. This has been well thought out and planned for years, it didn't just crop up this past few weeks. I believe they have crunched the numbers and concluded its the only way they can survive long term. Football has been heading into the abyss for years, one huge escalating financial black hole with mega sums of money being sucked out of it from numerous sources that isn't going back in (similar to an exchange) and this is a derivative of that.
Am I sad....hard to say...football is one of my passions but there's a chance this may all work out for the best....but then again it may not but IMHO, the top clubs may have no choice
