Do betfair Trade their own markets?

A place to discuss anything.

Just to clarify a little, when I say timings I mean when a player has been bowled.

I'd guess that's pretty much impossible to anticipate.

Have seen this quite a few times recently but will take closer look when the IPL starts.

There is something in that as i have a five year experience in watching games at ground but most of the times my bets are not matched. I think people have developed a software to place bets fastest from stadium to they have got some tips from betfair ex-employees. I am very sure that betfair ex employees have made a huge profit from trading. Last year in 2014 Daniel dobsson who was caught in Australian open for doing court siding work for a company of betfair ex employee. but company has declined that they were placing bets, they said they were only passing information.

I strongly say that betfair is directly or indirectly involved in it. for example betfair is providing accounts to Indian residents who have foreign Bank accounts. as we all know that betting is illegal in india. Betfair is not so fair as they show themselves.

Good point @Westerner

Its clear as day that you don't have an ability to anticipate an exact time(in seconds): of corners, of dangerous free kicks multiple time in a row, sclaping the positions in right direction.
When someone is ahead of live action- are we calling that anticipating?.

Very same impression here- someone is privileged(no delayment), someone not(delayed).

I was trading Palace - MC last night, and I was trying to push my trade into the market directly after a goal. I was pressing enter whilst the market was 'suspended', but it wouldn't let me. I then hit the button directly as the 'suspended' was removed

Guess what?...........there was shedloads of money that entered 2 secs before me. In other words, there was money entering that market without having to adhere to the 5 second rule

This has to be BF?!

I have seen that as well LeTiss, I don't think they are beating the clock just working with faster software.

I have mentioned this before but there used to be a bug that enables you too beat the clock and I am sure there are probably other ways...

I tell you what else there up to as well, recently i've took to trading in-running on the horses and the other day I set my exit (£25 @ 3.2 with £30 in front of me). The horse went to a low of 3.2 before bouncing out and losing now according to the traded amount on the BA ladder there was £200 matched at that price but guess what....my £25 was still sat there all by itself, how can this be? In my opinion its more dirty tricks from Betfair.

Anyway they can have you over they will.

Same here Redhead..
One thing that stopped one of my strategies..
Lets say I'd had a £50 bet matched in running at 5's and the offset (with greening was at 2's)..The number of times you just get £50 matched at 2's (ie not the full amount) cant be a coincident. It seems more prevalent the larger the amount as part of the offset..
there are times when I have had massive offsets waiting to be matched...the price comes down to match it..but just your original stakes gets matched.
There are posts on here where others (think Jolly was one) where the odds went PAST his money and it didnt get matched. Not sure that happens these day..or maybe it does?

It feels to me like Betfair have over tweaked cross matching and it's producing some strange results. Difficult to tell.

This is my main gripe about XM, especially as they are now XM related markets.

On many occasions I am disputing the integrity of BF, simply because I can see from my position and money matched that my bet should be taken, but it isn't

Yeah, I agree it's almost impossible to work out what's going on and you have to trust Betfair. Which is a problem because most people don't.

I have talked to Betfair's senior management and none, past or present have confirmed any activity in their own markets. YOu would think past incumbents who have nothing to lose by confirming. But of course it could be that another link in the chain has an advantage that we are not aware of.

But all that said I don't let myself get sidetracked by conspiracy theories, whether it's true or not you have to get on with what you have in front of you.

I agree. That's the key thing; you will drive yourself mad otherwise.

What I try to do is concentrate on areas of the market where its hard for betfair to manipulate

It may be true that they don't trade their markets DIRECTLY, but they have access to info that the rest of us could only dream of - e.g. they can very easily calculate the sum net position of pre-race traders in any market. Given they try to squeeze as much profit from the exchange as possible (xm, pc etc.) I'd be surprised if useful info isn't exploited for profit somehow.
