RANT CORNER
I don't use Edge. I don't see any advantage and resent MS periodically trying to foist it on me by blocking my startup to persuade me to select Edge as my preferred browser.

Saw somewhere that some supermarkets in Denmark have introduced slow checkouts for old or lonely people who might want a little chat, I thought that was a really nice idea. For some it's the only human interaction they have.
I'll take the latter over the former absolutely any day you like.
40C? Jeez I used to struggle on my walks with 25+, now 20+ is a miserable sweaty ordeal. I walk at over 4 mph, so maybe I should slow down, but I can't. I have one speed - flat out. Our last bout of high 20's changed the way i lived. How do people from hot countries cope? People tell me "well the heat over there is dry, there is little humidity" but seems to me like we're cooking the human race.

I used to visit Seychelles often before the pandemic, maybe 8 -10 times a year. The temperature there is 28'ish C all year being only 4 degrees south of the equator. I found it used to take me 3-4 days to acclimatise but after that I didn't notice the heat so, how do they cope ... they live there all their all the time!

Well, I'm glad you have that metabolism. The last 25+ burst knocked me bandy for several days. Classic heat exhaustion really. But I guess you're right, if you like heat, you seek it out and you will therefore adapt.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 9:35 pmI used to visit Seychelles often before the pandemic, maybe 8 -10 times a year. I've never got used to how cold the UK is and I've lived here all my life. 24-30 seems to be my working temperature.
I figure I'm just not padded enough cos I can't float either. My old ma was right when she used to say "move away from the fire or you'll melt your fat", I think I did.

About a month ago Amazon delivered an empty box. The only way to handle it was via a return 'not as described' with no other way to say arrived but no product. A replacement arrived. Now they want me to return it by the end of the month or be charged. There's no way to contact them about it.

I hate websites that think they have thought of every possible reason you want to contact them but never do as in your case Shaun. I had one recently where I missed the return collection by Royal Mail for an Amazon return (my fault, I forgot to pack it). Postie said the label he brought with him could not be used to next day so I tried to arrange for another collection ... impossible. Yes I arranged a new collection and was advised by the Amazon website Postie would bring the label ... he didn't. He was just as confused and he didn't have an option to record why the collection was unsuccessful. As Einstein predicted when I repeated the exercise for the next day it had the4 same result! In the end it seemed simpler for me to find an alternative use for the item and keep it.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:53 amAbout a month ago Amazon delivered an empty box. I almost gave up, wasn't sure the effort was worth the £16 but finally found the chat option after going round a loop several times.... Won't get an email, will get an email? ... You gotta love AI .firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 12:58 pmI hate websites that think they have thought of every possible reason you want to contact them but never do as in your case Shaun. But I had a result with Yodel, ordered a load of gardening stuff, they lost it, spent a week getting them to admit it and eventually the seller sent it all again..... Then someone from up road brought me a box saying it had been delivered to them incorrectly.
