You can't blame some for going a bit nuts
2977 innocent people died on 9/11 because a bunch of lunatics thought they were god and self-righteously had the power to decide who lives and who dies.

JSO are no better, they're happy to hold up ambulances with critical heart attack, stroke and accident victims. They need to be taken to a police cell, given a good kicking and then sent to prison for a long time.
As I said, you can't blame people for going a bit nuts.I reckon these people are s***ing themselves because of our poor stewardship of the planet. It's ok for you and me (55 plus? and 62) to scoff and deride eco-protesters. but all the evidence appears to show they are fundamentally correct. Disrupting "an event" is peanuts in the long run.

Just Stop Oil protesters say they won't die quietly. Hopefully they'll die in screaming agony instead.

I would love to do a carbon audit on their supporters with questions such as ... Do they buy goods from Asia? Do they take holidays abroad? Did they do a full carbon audit on their electric cars (assuming they are not so hypocritical as to still have ICE vehicles)? Let's see if they do as they want us to do.

How does the evidence show they're correct? They want to stop opening new oil fields. How is that correct compared to alternatives such as limiting new oil fields and phasing them out over time, or on the other side of the coin, shutting oil fields down, scrapping oil altogether and taking cars off the road, scrapping all imported goods and growing your own tomatoes?

And how exactly do they get to the site of protest? Walk? No, the flipping hypocrites get there in cars, thinking they're above everybody else and can award themselves the right to burn fuel!

I actually met one of those nutters at a do, a woman in her sixties. She was gonna get a cab home but was happy to accept a lift from another guest!

The planet is clearly fucked, the hottest day the globe has ever seen was July 4th, quickly broken on the 5th July, then on the 6th. The stats, the data, all point to one very clear conclusion - we are destroying the planet.

But you clowns are bitching because your boomer events get interrupted, or some fat old cow in an ambulance can't get her heart seen to - the heart she has no doubt abused for the vast majority of her life, given the prevalence of obesity in this country and many more.

Talk about completely missing the point. Vast swathes of the globe are going to be uninhabitable very soon. You think we've got a problem with immigration now? Just wait.

All people taken to hospital are fat old cows who abuse their bodies?

Just wait until you have an accident and need to get to A&E. You won't be saying, doesn't matter, glueing yourself to roads is more important.

What about the babies that need to get to hospital? They must be heavy drinkers and smokers!

Causing criminal damage and illegal pitch invasions, generally spoiling everyone's enjoyment of sporting events isn't the best way to get sympathy and support for their cause. What does running on the green at The Open, invading the crease at The Ashes, jumping on the Snooker table at the World Championships actually achieve? I'll tell you absolutely nothing.

I agree we need to sort the planet out but need to go after politicians who create legislation, the large fossil fuel company's with legislation, mandatory education in schools etc there's lots of ways to target climate change but instead they target the general population who they just piss off and people have had enough of them.

Oh god, won't someone think of the poor babies! Or some dick head who falls off a ladder. You are trying to equate some random bad thing that might happen, with the greatest catastrophe that the world has ever faced. The weakness of that argument really tells you all you need to know. Come back with something more rigorous, or shut up.

Achieves nothing? This very conversation disproves that notion. It wouldn't even be on most of these boomer's radards if it wasn't disrupting sporting events, that's how insulated and ignorant most people are.

The political path has been attempted for decades, if you really think that is an effective path to tackling this issue then you are deluded. Those clowns in parliament are incompetent buffoons who cannot sort out the most basic services - healthcare - so any faith that anyone has in that process is utterly misplaced.

It's a curious thing that we've had a democratic reaction to Londons ULEZ and then anti-oil protesters disrupting life. Perhaps the opposition to ULEZ would be less if London had competent public transport.

Accidents/illnesses aren't things that might happen, they happen. Taking out your frustration on innocent people/children/babies is stupid, plain and simple.

Yeah, that's not what's happening and you know it, it's an easy out for people who don't want to be inconvenienced in their day to day, because they're too stupid to see the bigger picture.

This will be the first generation who will not turn more conservative as they age.

Do you know how badly you have to fuck up your stewardship of the world in order for those well established norms to be reversed?

Look around you. Pretty flipping badly!

Boomers on here and elsewhere arguing against these protests are on the wrong side of history. Get a grip.

Who's responsible for that? Ultimately, the politicians, the same one's we are being implored to trust to sort out the climate issue. Doesn't quite make sense that does it.

"You can't make the buses run on time, but forget that, we're facing ecological collapse, maybe you could lend us a hand?"

In trading terms, this is very much - if you can't do it with a tenner, you can't do it with a ton.

The private ownership of public services is looking more and more like a really bad idea. These people are entrepreneurs. They want to destroy competition and maximise profit. It is now evident that we have a conundrum.
Public ownership that is proven to be totally incompetent and private ownership that is now proven to be un-regulatable.
I really don't know what the answer is. It requires a national change of mind. But for sure our "governments" going back decades have failed us but we keep electing twits.
