West Ham v LFC 3-2
Good. Now everyone can shut up already about the record unbeaten run etc and move on. It's largely undeserved anyway, conceding far too many chances to everyone and just outscoring teams when needed.

Alison shocking for all 3 goals, she does that once per season. Hammers were excellent.

Amazing what a team can do when everyone gives 100%.
West Ham have gone from easy 3 points to a real problem for anyone.
I've always said what Moyes did at Everton was alchemy. But in doing so he also enhanced the reputation and value of many players.
Quite what happened at Man U for him is still baffling.
But then Man U has been a conundrum since Fergie retired.

Can only bring myself to talk about this result after a full day of pretending it didn't happen.

It was coming though.. Atletico away, Brentford, Brighton all matches which highlight that we can't control games of football. Compare this to Man City's win over Utd, they go 2-0 up then just keep the ball. For me that was more impressive than winning 5-0. Add to that our high defensive line, it highlights too much is being asked of Van Dijk and whoever his partner is on any given day. Our full backs can't defend especially Trent so no matter how good VVD is we're going to concede goals. We've been conceding chances since the start of the season but we haven't been punished as much as we should have been. Individually Alisson had a shocker but so did Mane who missed two great chances.

Not the best defending was it?
Traditionally, great defenders are smart, brave and are determined to win any cross.
I'm thinking Carra, Hyypia.
That didn't happen. Ogbonna was free as a bird for both goals he was invloved in.
In defence of Trent. How many better free-kicks have you seen?
But as Kai says credit to West Ham. It wasn't a fluke. They were brilliant and exploited every weakness ruthlessly.
I honestly hope WHU keep this up and don't start to believe their own publicity. Their results are now exceeding their budget. It's very impressive.
We miss Robbie. He's so low-key, but so integral to what LFC do.

I don't think you can blame the CBs for the first goal but you could blame the set up. Easy with hindsight of course but someone in a Liverpool jersey should have been between Ogbonna and Alisson. As the game went on though they didn't learn from that and the situation repeated itself 2-3 times more.

I wasn't surprised that West Ham got something out the match, but was really surprised by the goals Liverpool conceded.

Disappointing that West Ham performed better after Euro exploits midweek.
TBH the elephant in the room for LFC now is Klopp's contract ending in 2022. It looks like Salah will stay but he isn't immortal, nor Robbie, nor Hendo so there are some issues on the horizon.

He signed a contract extension last year I think so he's contracted until 2024.

No guarantees he'll see it out though, especially if the club don't buy who he wants in the summer.

Blimey, how did I miss that? :-)
Because I wasn't paying attention, thats why! Doh!
I hope he won't go early. And hope FSG will back him with recruitment.

Don't feel too bad.. it's taken me 24 hours to notice Villa sacked Dean Smith! :D

I think he'll see the contract out but FSG need to back him going forward. Its hard to criticise them as they've put a lot of money into the new training facilities and the stadium but only spending on recruitment what you bring in in transfer fees isn't a blueprint for sustainable success on the pitch.

I was reading about Marcus Rashfords' shoulder injury and recent operation. Was wondering what a star studded footballer gets up to when trying to recover, I just found out.

I'm a bit confused that a top flight player is wiling to depict himself as a raddish.
But, since it's him, I would say 'go for it'.
Pity they didn't have the courage to use The Pogues/Kirsty MacColl original of Fairytale of New York.
Can you imagine the furore if they had. Jeez. What a world!

FFS ref. Why don't you have lunch over your VAR decision?
