SORREE! SHR, I've just gone off topic as well.
Should have started a new thread. Still p*ssed off about the Leicester 1PM. Anybody know if there's a new "Bomber" around?

It is a good thread BTW, I'm always interested in how others work and in avoiding DORKING!!!!

I am postponing tomorrow's start. I lost £400 yesterday... Damn it. Fuck it mode kicked in. Feeling like a complete fool right now.
Don't think it's a good idea need to work on this cannot allow this to happen again!

Cheers Naffman.

I was trading greyhounds. 7 winning trades on the bounce. Boom large order came in. Just sat there like a rabbit in the headlights. All the way to a £9 loss. Clicked took sp. Broke my rule then market went suspended. The dog lost so the red was about £20.
Then I just raised my stakes. Behaving like an animal for the next 4/5 races.

Nothing wrong with my actual trading. I've had two losing days in the whole of November -£5 and -£35 and now a £400 red.

This keeps happening every 3/4 months.
I'm just grateful I only had £400 in my account because I was behaving wildly and I wasn't stopping.

SHR - you don't have the self discipline to really do this if you are able to act in this way after almost a year of trading. You should turn your attention to automating as much as possible, otherwise you have no limits to how much recklessness you'll undertake, under pressure.

the old expression, *sit on your hands* is all the more true when you're chasing losses in an emotional state.

SHR +Naffman. Lousy day yesterday too. I quote myself below :-
Anybody know if there's a new "Bomber" around?
Schadenfreude, is actually quite a nice feeling, but can be expensive (no wonder the germans invented the damn word).

Somebody out there has cash to burn.

I have to dissagree. I have to face my probems and work on a plan to deal with them.
I am the believer that trading is full self control of emotions. My £400 loss is just another lesson. Just very annoyed with myself. I am working back on a new plan today.
Automation is not going to stop the gambler in me or anyone else.

Sorry to hear about the £400 loss SHR, as a newbie to sports trading I can't offer you any advice but I hope you can learn to eventually control your emotions and make this kind of thing, something that you will look back on and appreciate as a cost of learning to be a great trader.

it will and it does - read back and you'll see that you say it happens every 3-4 months. that's why you either need to get on top of it now, or get something in place that limits your ability to gamble

Automation wont stop me from placing a bet. I need to change my paradigm.

I understand what your saying but everyone has there own faults. If I just ignore my problems and use Automation it is not going to change me and if i get really hacked off I will likely just switch the Automation off. I dont want to try and avoid the innevtible I want t learn how to cope with invetable and keep moving forward.

I have an idea which has worked for me. Have two accounts say Betfair and Betdaq one account only trade, never go in play, hedge make money . Account 2 have a punt, put a fiver on a football match don't trade out.

As long as you're not doing your conkers on account 2 just enjoying a sensible bet, it works , it has for me.

I never trade on account 1 after drinking always stick to plan . Account 2 have a beer dutch a few scores , you get it
Good luck anyway

well SHR, you are at the very least acknowledging your weakness and hopefully putting in place safeguards to prevent repeats.

i can't advise on how to break very personal habits, all i can say is that i recognised way back that i was a tinkerer and set about automating as much as i could. it also helps with the boredom aspect as i suspect this causes you to enter trades that aren't setup properly as you just need something to do.

Ah well head up mate and try and learn from it! :)

If I ever start to think 'well ive already lost a bit I might as well just go and blow it all' I just think how bad am I going to feel tonight when I realise I've just lost all/most of it.
