It is mostly likely the mad bomber as he has been around for quite a few races today and the last week or so or someone with a very similar M.O.

If it is, then maybe s/he isn't as mad as we think! ;)

2nd 6 Dream Of Fortune (IRE) 7-1

I shall leave you to it, I have done what I wanted on this thread and that was to make people aware that this isn't necessarily a road to riches.

Good luck with it if you keep following them - just keep missing the ones where they lose which has been on a few today and you will do alright out of it.

Perhaps have a look through this thread though:

Hi Andy

I'm not sure it is a route to riches, or even if there's any merit to it, but it's an interesting avenue.

In the words of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka, 'Never, never doubt what nobody is sure about'... :)

You all on Brave Prospector in the 19.00?

Not me - I think the price may have collapsed largely because a spoofer scared the market!

I can't believe people are thick enough to be scared by money that's not adjacent to the spread!

Those big orders both dropped and were matched - wasn't spoof money. Have a look on the price chart and you can see the second (the £8,000 order) one clearly being matched.

I just remembered - I actually bet on Brave Prospector earlier today with my local bookie, odds of 2/1.

It isn't people being thick and running scared a lot of the time, it is traders getting on - as I said have a read through the other thread. Had you got on when their first order came there was a nice move to be had. Being able to work out what is spoof and what isn't is the key and you won't get it right all the time and even when you do it doesn't mean you will get green from it.

Well done on your win.

Thanks Andy

Was there any way of telling that the move in question wasn't spoof money until it was too late?

I must admit that when someone puts a huge offer into the market, and it's night right next to the spread, I assume they're spoofing.

Looks like they are going for more than one this race. I only saw the 1 and 9 though they could have gone for others.

What better use for this forum can there be than learning the art of spotting dark liquidity?

There are various pointers, for example the fact they have been around all week and quite a bit today and everytime today they dropped until they were fully matched. But there a far too many indicators to bear in mind and it is for each individual to decide what they should do. Especially as sometimes the money can be laid in the blink of an eye so it isn't just a matter of lumping on sitting on your hands waiting for the drop then laying off and counting your winnings.

Watch the markets closely and you can spot patterns - the M.O. hasn't changed a whole lot in the last 2 years or so they have been backing or laying for huge amounts (well huge to me).

Who knows it could be different people every time over the last few years but I suspect it isn't.

Do they win long term, again no way of knowing but I and others would be fairly confident saying that they do not and in fact lose a hell of a lot but they well always go on winning streaks and losing streaks but be careful interpreting it as informed cash. Obviously I can't say one way or the other for certain but I would guess it is mug money.

That last race showed how you can quickly lose about £50,000 on one of these lumpy bets :o

Right that is me done with this thread anyway - good luck with it and keep those eyes open.
