My ideology was living the 'English' way of life ....

Before 27 years ago.....,.
There is a great documentary on iPlayer called the Bronte Business. It was made in the 1970's and is worth a watch, especially if you like flares.

It is a lamentation on how the world has changed & businesses have invaded a quiet sleepy hollow in Yorkshire. There is even some guy with the obligatory cigarette saying life was much better 30years ago...

Pretty sure his definition of "English way of life" is completely different from yours .

I've even heard some muppets claiming life was better in Victorian times, when the average age of death was 28 in said sleepy hollow...

Anyhow, its worth a watch )

I'm sure the iPlayer doc is interesting but you've completely missed the point.

Last 27 years

Tony Blair gave us IRAQ War

David Cameron gave us BREXIT

Boris Johnson gave us LOCKDOWN

Rishi Sunak gave us LABOUR

Which could mean another 27 years of shit

Gotcha...

You mean when:

- the UK became the 1st major economy to borrow money from the IMF
- Death penalty abolished
- First British soldier is killed in Northern Ireland's 'Troubles'
- Strikes paralyse Britain during the so-called 'Winter of Discontent'
- Racial tensions spark riots in Brixton and other areas
- Economic recession leads to high unemployment
- Major national industries are privatised
- Introduction of new local taxes sparks 'poll tax' riots in London
- 'Black Wednesday' forces withdrawal of sterling from the ERM

And to top it off:

- Decimal day
- Prince Andrew was born
- England win world cup (that was very bad news for 3 of the 4 home nations by the way)

Glory days indeed....

Recovering from surgery to my oesophagus.
👍

But eh, only you could turn being discharged from hospital into a rant post and not put it in the happy corner :)

Some potential food for thought regarding life dysmorphia : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fw_cl8-fs9s

Also, speaking of food maybe later on you could try the immensely powerful Mo Salah diet for a completely new lease on life : only meat, eggs, fish, fruits and veggies. Seriously, no sugar, pasta, bread whatsoever should make you look lean and even shredded with minimal gym time and feeling stronger and healthier than ever 🦾

Get well soon Derek

It was worth a watch. I started by being outraged that a sleepy village could be "ruined" by the popularity of the Bronte's. But then you have 2 opposing views.
1. Hawarth was dilapidated before it became popular and tourist businesses took over.
2. Locals feeling that commercial interests came in and essentially priced the locals out.

I've seen this in the Lakes. Spring or Autumn are good times to go. Summer? Forget it. Really! Forget it. It's a flipping nightmare. You go there for space and to enjoy the scenery, but the roads, towns and hills are clogged.
Truly successful in attracting folk, but not for me.

That is very true. Never mind burgers and chips, I used to take my breakfast fried egg on toast for granted. Now I'm just looking forward to my first slice of toast in months. :)

After the procedure I drank a third of a glass of water and felt it go straight down to my stomach. I threw it up two minutes later, but for the first time in months, I actually enjoyed drinking water and found it thirst quenching, a feeling I forgot all about. :D

What was the point of GB Energy ?

The government has just granted/sold 9 more private contracts for offshore wind farms.

Of course they got loads of bids as they removed the minimum price cap by 66%.

Based on the above then you won’t see lower prices and if you do then it won’t be for 20 years until the private companies have offset their costs and shareholder dividends.

I thought GB Energy were going to be publicly owned, employing thousands to build the turbines and install them ?

WTF!!!!

Glad you agree for once ;)

Because Wayne Rooney's "No Salad" diet is overrated :D

Yeah, my fav drink has always been "AGUA" as Ronaldo would say, just has to be the right temperature, I keep some in the fridge and some at room temp to mix up as needed, while Coke etc gets very seldomly used, altho tastes pretty good too on the right occasion not gonna lie.

This gif has wiped $4bn off Coca Cola's market value 🥶

Isn't it councils that are suggesting this? And Rayner is stalling.
But for sure if this goes through Labour will lose a swathe of support.

we simply don't have the necessary engineers in the uk to design, manufacture and install wind farms (both on and off shore) at any kind of scale.
we don't produce enough engineers in all disciplines.

the government as no choice if they want to build wind farms on scale they need engineers from somewhere.

They are not bothered, they'll get it back when they reduce the voting age to 16.
What are they going to do , threaten to leave the country like the other rich so and so's .
Could cost some old geezer living on their own about £750 - that's the rich pensioners paying top council tax of over £3K. Don't feel too sorry for them - they wont miss it :D
