It's quite startling to think during the war people endured 5 years of sheer hell, hardship and fear so that we could have a better future. I bet they didn't fight over bog roll or expect to have something nice to eat every evening. They'd just be grateful to have adequate food and wipe their bums with whatever's available. 7 or 14 days without luxuries is hardly anything to go bonkers over.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 7:19 pmOne of our local Supermarkets has in the last few hours been smashed up, probably through frustration from people not getting what they wanted after waiting for hours in long lines. The logic behind smashing It up baffles me, I think there is a good saying "dont bite the hand that feeds you" but then again, I shouldn't be so baffled, I live in a city riddled with twats.

Indeed. My Dad was in a children's home during the war (his father was at sea fighting the Germans and his mother died very young). He says they went to bed hungry most days, not just during the war but for many years afterwards.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 8:12 pmIt's quite startling to think during the war people endured 5 years of sheer hell, hardship and fear so that we could have a better future. Its unbelievable, the other day some tits went on a spree robbing shops for booze, lads at work drove past their pulled up car and said the police had the boot open and it was packed with bottles. This may or may not be panic, it could just be something we the normal people have got used to in society & at a time like this the two situations get automatically linked, but either way my opinion of community spirit and people being a good fellow citizen are in the toilet.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 8:12 pmIt's quite startling to think during the war people endured 5 years of sheer hell, hardship and fear so that we could have a better future. I thought maybe I was the only one looking at the exponential growth. No flattening on the horizon as yet it seems.

Bought a few vege seed packets at Bunnings about a week ago (mainly to give my daughter and I something to do outside during the coming lock down) -went back yesterday to get a few more and they were all gone
..guess people are expecting a long term fight.Probably rightly so.
Someone then dry coughed behind me in the aisle and my legs propelling the trolley(while keeping a still upper body so not to show panic
) would have put Road Runner to shame
Anyway, I have said it before but take care folks and all the best to you and yours.

No sure if it's all of them, but my lad says the auto repair shop he works at has got essential worker status, which seems sensible. Also says they've had a lot of military in getting their cars serviced cos they've been brought back from overseas duty.

Tourists flooding Welsh countryside told to 'go home'
Clare Mackintosh, who posted the original photo, said people arriving have been "flooding the town, emptying shelves and crowding the streets and lakeshore".
I was very sceptical at the beginning of this until I started looking at the numbers, the main problem is people are still in that mindset & most will never pay much attention to the numbers or go into any sort of depth with them. Keeping an eye on them helps to stay away from being part of the curve. I feel so much for the NHS staff right now, people who aren't taking this seriously are going to find themselves going to hospital at peak capacity, my hope is that it comes in a wave sort of effect, so with each lockdown the next wave doesn't peak as high as the previous until it eventually runs out.superfrank wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 11:36 amTourists flooding Welsh countryside told to 'go home'

Ouch. Wish Covid19 was the only thing we have to worry about right now, our capital just got hit with a 5.3 magnitude earthquake, biggest one in 140 years. Luckily there weren't many people on the street so no casualties so far, apart from a child that had to be reanimated. Plenty of material damage around, especially with the cars, the very last thing people need right now, and we have 1 day to clean eveything up before heavy snow starts falling over the next week.
What's next, a zombie outbreak? This apocalyptic year can fuck off already
