We had a pair of duck visit everyday for about 6 weeks, then they went missing for a fortnight. Today I went out to bring the bin in and the female + 9 ducklings were walking up the road and turned straight up the drive. Spent an hour in the front pond then walked round the back. Well that's my afternoon sorted. Looking forward to following them when they go to see where they've been living.

My garden wildlife are squirrels, tits (don't!!) the very occasional fox, too many pigeons that like to wake me up by coo-cooing and clog dancing on the roof.
Most exotic really are the occasional chaffinches.
That's apart from the prowling neighbourhood cats, of course.

We've had some goldfinches and a bullfinch just the once. No mammals,
I've been praying for rain for a month, now this lot turn up and it's cold, pouring and blowing a gale.

Haha yeah clog dancing pigeons, i've never known anything be so heavy footed!
Couple of pigeons on the front lawn is a regular thing. I share maybe 5 square metres with next door. But it's very quiet and the only threat for them is the neighbourhood cats.
But today I saw a couple of pigeons sharing the patch with a squirrel, no problem. I guess they're after different food.

Thought I'd keep the Wims thread clean....
Scots rightly think Westminster does nothing for them but Holyrood seems to be metrocentric too.
...Shame to see Mhairi Black's stepping down. Not everyone's cup of tea but eloquent and not from the cookie cutter school of politicians. If Scotland was south of Brighton instead of north of Newcastle I'd be there in a heartbeat.
I had a hell of a job spelling her name, google just wanted to tell me about the Māori All Blacks
I see the Orkneys are having a vote on alternate forms of governance and one of the options is to become part of Norway

What an unbelievable weekend of sport coming up. Wimbledon, Tour de France, The Ashes (I'm not a cricket fan mind), England U21's in Euro Final, British Grand Prix and the usual ITV Racing fix. As a sports fan you couldn't ask for more.
Only thing to do is sit back, open some cold ones and enjoy.
Good to see Channel 4 made the effort (bid
) to put the England Euro final on the box instead of UEFA TV.

For many it's one of the most intense periods of work on the calendar, sitting back is something people do when it's over.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 6:50 pmOnly thing to do is sit back, open some cold ones and enjoy.

This is the difference between being employed where the employer effective force employees to have time off and the self-employed (not just Betfair traders) who have to force themselves to have time off. Their temptation is to work every hour God gives because of the desire to make moneyMichael5482 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 7:56 amEveryone needs/should have a day off here and there good for the mind and soul. Generally though once my basic needs are covered I'd rather have the time than another pound. Imo too many people do it the wrong way round, they work too much when they're fit and able and then "retire" when they're too old and knackered to do anything. Luckily in this game vs digging holes, old and knackered aren't an obstacle to sitting on your arse all day in front of the computer.
