Going for a long swing and throwing away a profit is much the same as taking a quick small profit and finding the price flew into your favour, but common mistakes that I made, and I assume many new traders make.

I eventually remembered my old punting approach of not worrying about now and looking longer term. Wherever you place your exit will never be optimal every time. I just try to find the right balance so if it doesn't work this time it may work next time, hopefully. :)

The ladders for the first at Newcastle were one-way streets.

I'm spending my tokens at Coffs, could have done so much better if I could see how many horses were out of the stalls.

Its so annoying, even with pictures when the TAB have the back of the stalls covered by the odds. Or when on the dogs they show the odds or the watchdogs tips right before they jump so you cant see the boxes getting loaded.

When a horse is scratched, sometimes the reduction factor is way off what it should be, overly reducing your open lays, or traders/bots don't react and lay horses at the old price.

That's a intertwining angle as there seems to be a fair share of late withdrawn horses in oz and US racing

If you hear a horse is about to be scratched but hasn't yet been pulled from the market, especially with US racing, it's worth checking the reduction factor to see if it's in line with the price. If it's not, for UK racing they usually adjust the RF before pulling the horse, but as Naffman keeps saying, they can't be arsed to do it for US.

And if you hear of a late scratching it pays to know what the market will do before it gets pulled too as others anticipate the withdrawal

Betfair had the wrong race start time 12:30 for race 1 Geelong. Should have been 12:25.
