I think this is a case where discretion is the better part of valour!

I'll wait till braver souls than me have confirmed that it's safe to go out and play!

If Bet Angel can't log in via the API it automatically reverts to non API mode but you will need to log in again to get a full API connection. Some features are called during non API mode but it's recommended you reconnect so all features are available.

Think Le Tiss is stuck with the £600 liability. Fingers crossed for him.....

I have an api program running on the australian markets, was surprised this morning to see a pnl of exactly 0. Looked at the logs, nothing but timeouts and exceptions. So it has been going on all day already.

This is a test as to whether the 'Take SP' saved me - my bot automatically changed the bet persistence to 'Take SP' for the lay bet (the opposite side of the trade with offset), immediately after the back bet was made. Has it saved me? The market is still marked suspended, with no results or settlement shown. My SP bet is still marked 'Unmatched'. Can anyone tell me what will happen in this situation?

You need to read the T&C but from a faint memory I suspect you may not get matched. But check the T&C's as it definitely says in there.

I would go to your account betting history page in Betfair, make a note of the bet references to see if you were matched or not. You could contact [email protected] with the information.

Update: Yup. Saved by the 'Take SP'. :)

Note for readers: As a disaster insurence, I now get my bot to immediately change the other side of all trades to 'Take SP'. The first of the day it worked! I had 30% of bank exposure on 'Sundae Best' (the favourite) before the website crashed. The favourite lost. Betfair applied retroactive reconciliation with the 'Take SP', resulting in me getting my money back.

The disadvantage of changing the bet persistence to 'Take SP' is that in the event of a Rule 4 or suspension resulting in a conversion to an SP bet, the bet cannot be closed from that point on. But I still think its worth it to protect the bank from website crashes. And today is the demonstration of that.

I'm not sure I would be confident taking SP all the time? They have gone off at <1.05 in past haven't they??

It seems to be running nice now. I think I will go full stakes.
