Well done Real. Not much in it really, but LFC were pretty good. Real just edged it. But an enjoyable game, I think. Crap outcome, but hey there's always next year.
 Top banter, there’s always next year! Welcome to the disappointment camp Liverpool fans… we all feel your pain, we’re experienced in it.
I feel no pain. Maybe a pinprick, but it's meaningless in the grand scheme of things. This year has been fun. To come out with only the Caraboa and FA cups, plus 2nd in the Prem and Champions League Runner up. Not too bad by most standards.
More interesting now will be the next transformation. But that's common to LFC, Arsenal, Spurs, Man C (plus Haaland - AAAARRRGGHH!!) et al.
I'm just cheesed off that it's all months away.
Waddya mean "football addict"?!!!
Guilty, your honour. :-)

Gutted after that but I feared the worse when Michael Owen said we'd win comfortably. This is by far the worst I've felt on a Sunday morning since I woke up beside my ex.

Hats off to Courtois and to Ancelotti for getting his tactics spot on. But I've said it a few times now over the past couple of seasons, we don't have a proper goal scorer and its cost us again. That sounds silly when you consider the number of goals the team and Salah in particular has scored, but if those chances had fallen to a Lewandowski, Mbappe, Haaland or a Kane they would have taken at least one of them. City had exactly the same problem in Europe in recent seasons, the big chances falling to wingers but they've fixed it for next season and will be very hard to stop.

Not sure what Mane's plans are but Salah looks like he wants to go on a free when his contract runs out so the club need to get their thinking hats on over the summer and try to nab a goalscorer that they can build the team around.

Another thing.. Klopp complaining about the opponents style of play whenever we lose is growing really tiresome and he should be called out on it. He seems to think everyone should play like Man City. Bottom line is we played in 3 finals this season and didn't score 1 single goal in 330 minutes. Maybe a little bit of spotlight should be shone on Klopp himself and his tactics.

I think that final paragraph tells you all you need to know.

Liverpool need to reshape their attack to progress.

Well done to Nottingham Forest. Transformed by Steve Cooper. (blue is good)

I've got nothing against Huddersfield but I'm glad Forest have made it up.

Not just their history but it's nice to see a team who aren't in receipt of a parachute payment get promoted.

Two late goals and a few fingers burnt. :)

French Interior Minister blaming Liverpool fans for widespread ticket fraud. Don't know if there's any justification for it but naturally reminds me of a UEFA official's kneejerk reaction to Hillsborough.

More like UEFA don't want to admit they messed up.

It was the French home secretary, I haven't what UEFA said. It can't be that difficult to stop forgeries. A name and address printed on the ticket with ID requirement or a PIN attached to each ticket number.

When I was 17 I worked as a computer operator. I'd print tickets for football matches and the Royal Albert Hall and then I'd have to put them through a chopping machine to cut them into tickets. If the tickets ever got damaged in the machine or scattered in the collection tray it was my job to go through them carefully and make absolutely sure there are no duplicates after reprinting. But I reckon I probably let the odd one through leading to a fight over the same seat.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt. The morning after the game somebody in the French government congratulated the police on a job well done. Apparently teargassing children, letting the locals run amok before the game and being nowhere in sight when both sets of fans were being mugged leaving the stadium passes as good police work.

UEFA has the power to ban France from hosting finals or even French clubs from Europe, so they should put pressure on the government to explain themselves and make changes. I've never experienced teargas but no child or innocent person should be subjected to it. If I go to France to watch a match I'll take a gas mask with me. :)

French policing is different. The Gendarmerie is a paramilitary force. Shoot first - ask questions after. Even our riot police would have handled it diffently I think.
But the accounts on the Beeb live text at the time suggested a bit of a shambles (and from correspondents, not just Joe Public).
It's fortunate that it didn't escalate and no-one that was pepper-sprayed, teagassed or tasered didn't become a fatality.
When the Merseyside Police, who were present, said behaviour was exemplary that sets the tone of the situation.

UEFA has requested an independant report into what went wrong on Saturday. They will take evidence from fans, french police, stadium officials, press and the undercover UK police who were also at the match.

They're getting a Portuguese parliamentarian to do it on a pro bono basis to ensure impartiality. Can't imagine who would want to do all that work for free.

Might get the findings in about 3 years time then. Don't understand why anyone is really surprised, the French dont like the Brits and many Brits dont like the French.

Afterall, historically, we have had more wars with France than any other nation. :)
