Note for readers: As a disaster insurence, I now get my bot to immediately change the other side of all trades to 'Take SP'. The first of the day it worked! I had 30% of bank exposure on 'Sundae Best' (the favourite) before the website crashed. The favourite lost. Betfair applied retroactive reconciliation with the 'Take SP', resulting in me getting my money back.

The disadvantage of changing the bet persistence to 'Take SP' is that in the event of a Rule 4 or suspension resulting in a conversion to an SP bet, the bet cannot be closed from that point on. But I still think its worth it to protect the bank from website crashes. And today is the demonstration of that.
It's a good idea imo and i do it myself,
I did however once get stung badly by it , It was when Betfair failed to turn a race in-play and the bet was matched by a another punter after the off time, this bet was then voided by Betfair and i was left badly exposed, as of cause they would not give me s.p bet in replacement of the voided bet, So like with everything else it' s not 100% a garentee, but a good idea none the less.

Dundee Utd 2-1 Up

I can 'red up' for a £370 loss

I feel so angered by BF's totally shit service (especially as I'm a PC customer) that I feel like taking a chance on a Hamilton equaliser instead

You get the odd dodgy SP but I often use it as an insurance policy.
