When I first used BA I watched the many videos by Peter showing what the various BA facilities can do do and how to use them but that seems to have been dropped. As BA continues to be improved with more and more facilities added it becomes more and more complicated. I doubt I would have signed up if the BA of today was the BA when I subscribed. As I've got older I find it more and more difficult to read and absorb ... I need to see to absorb. Has any thought been given to restarting the 'operational videos'?

Amazing. Thanks!
(One technicality: that data isnt on betfair's website reporting. You have to pull the reports using the API: list_cleared_orders/Cleared Orders Report)
That was something I was going to check, so thanks for confirming. See, even betfair never bothered to properly support it! :)
For customers that can't use the betfair API directly (most of them) I assume we'd just tag the rows of the matched bets report that Guardian generates with the reference used when placing that bet.
I'm not sure about the best way to report it. I'm certainly not an API expert but I wouldnt be surprised of you had to pull list_cleared_orders to get the orderRefs.

Ideally you could pull the data in within BA, but i just use a python script that someone sent me - it generates a csv download that I plug into excel. I have python and an IDE, but it's not obvious that you'd even need those.

There have been less recently, but we are refreshing content in the winter. So there will be more, including for this version.

We've just been struggling to find the right way to do educational content. YouTube seems to be failing to surface videos nowadays unless they are complete bullshit, so we've been experimenting with how to get them surfaced.

YouTube is failing for true educational content, so we may push that via the Academy so people can find exactly what they want. Still a work in progress.

I wasn’t aware of the term “ surface videos “ so asked Gemini and it replied

The phrase "surface videos on YouTube" can have a couple of related meanings:
* Videos that are Recommended or Presented to a User: In the context of the YouTube platform, "surfacing" refers to the process where the YouTube algorithm presents or recommends videos to a user. These videos "surface" on:
* The Homepage
* The Up Next/Related Videos sidebar
* Search results
* Notifications
The algorithm determines which videos to surface based on various factors like your watch history, search history, channel subscriptions, likes, and overall viewer satisfaction.
* Videos Coming to Public Attention: This is a more general meaning of the word "surface," where footage surfaces of an event. It means a video or information has emerged or come to light publicly, often after a delay or from an unexpected source, such as social media or a personal recording. In this sense, a video "surfacing on YouTube" means it has been uploaded and has started to gain public attention.

This would indicate that maybe you are using the videos more as advertising for new users rather than specifically educating existing ones.

It’s no doubt a very time consuming process to build videos, and I can’t imagine the user base is growing (much).

Thanks for the content so far. It’s a great deal better than
rival products

The algorithm is pushing clickbait rather than informative videos. So much so that, despite subscribing to my own channel, I rarely get my own videos recommended to me.

Y, it's very time-consuming, and I don't really have much time to produce them now. I have tried various things, like outsourcing part of the production, but it never seems to hit the mark if you don't have the passion or messaging right. The software business doesn't justify having an extra full-timer on board, so I'm trying to find ways to get the right balance of workload and content.

I've interacted with some of your stuff on Facebook, but it doesn't look like the posts or videos are being viewed by huge numbers. It feels to me that people are growing rather tired and indifferent towards Social Media in general, Peter. I used to get huge interaction numbers on Twitter, but despite 27,000 followers those interactions are falling all the time

YouTube algorithm is all about viewer retention. A 30 minute video with a 40% retention rate is better than a 2 minute video with 60%.

Not only that, YouTube is also interested in what people do after watching a video. They want people on the site as long as possible

Whats probably happening is people are skipping through the videos for various reasons so poor retention rates. Or just simply not engaged enough.

Ultimately, YouTube doesn't care what your content is, all it cares about without bias is viewer retention

I know how to get videos noticed, but that involves going down BS clickbait route, which I note others have done. But I don't want to do that. Feels like selling your soul.

I'll have to strike a balance: realise videos won't get many views on YT, but use it to add longer, more relevant details on the Academy. That's what I've settled on.

Video isn't the optimal format for education; good old-fashioned written content is usually best.

But of course no-one would go looking for it, so YT wins out because that's where the music, gaming and funny animals are. 58 million views for a horse farting - that's where the real action is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCzwyFHSMdY

I'm primarily a manual trader and don't participate in any of the horse racing pre-off trading. I find the automation complex and only use some basic servants and automation.

My initial post about being disappointed with this latest update still stands as there are so many useful fundamental updates that could be made rather than only updating the automation side of things...for instance separate back/lay custom ticks inside/outside best market price in the In-play Trader and additional In-play Trader options such as 'left tick back selection and lay all other selections' in one-click...separate back/lay default stakes in the settings >> staking tab.

My trading style will be quite different from most, but I would also benefit from new automation operational videos (and/or new automation courses).

Hello

I have tried to download the new version of Bet Angel but it will not allow me to download it.

I have had no problems in the past.

Is there a reason for this please?

Raise that one as a suggestion to see if it gets any support. Adding that extra text box to the In-play Trader toolbar, to enter different back and lay custom ticks, will make the user interface a bit messy and less intuitive (probably needing extra labels etc), but if there's enough demand we can look into it.

That's definitely a job for a Servant. You could create a Servant to back the selection provided as a Servant context, and set a Stored Value on that selection to mark it as backed. Then you'd run rules on EVERY selection only laying the ones that weren't marked as backed. Using a Servant will also allow you to customise the staking and pricing that you use when laying all other selections.

Having said that, if you were backing a market that used betfair's cross matching, then backing one runner will automatically lay all the other runners anyway internally in the bet matcher if that gives better value (or improves the amount matched) as that's the point of cross matching.

Again, if there's enough demand for it, we could look at that. However, you can easily assign different back & lay stakes now with a keyboard shortcut. e.g.

or indeed even do multiple things with one click, as screenshot
my button 12 (-) first of all loads the coupon, then selects all the markets,
adds the automation, deletes all suspended markets
and sets how my one click screens will look with various columns etc.
10 different operations, 1 click
