The following horses were all born on exactly the New Moon. There is 1 in 28 chances of this happening. 28 days in a moon calendar.

Dancing Brave 11 May 1983- New Moon
Arrogate 11 April 2013- New Moon
Sea Biscuit 23 May 1933- New Moon
Sea Bird 8 March 1962- New Moon
Red Rum- 3 May 1965- New Moon
Eclipse 1 April 1764- New Moon

The list goes on...

So can anyone else name me 6 x 27 horses as good or better then the above....so we need 162 more great race horses to prove this isnt even a bias.

Frankel was born on an eclipse a couple days after a new moon along with the likes of Galileo and others.

I have checked the stats and horses being born on a new moon has no more frequency and interestingly more horses appear to be born around a full moon. Birth rates are pretty much evenly spread out.
1 in 28 chance of being born on a new moon yet most of the greatest have.

Maybe if Neil Armstrong was riding Douvan he would have won.

There are also plenty of studies and reports on the internet which describe all that as 'an old wives tale' too. I know nothing about breeding horses, so can't comment.

I'm not sure what your Cheltenham and Aintree stats are supposed to prove, there seems to be a mix of winners coming from all moon phases, and unless you show how many runners were from each group in total they are meaningless anyway.

I can't see how it can have any predictive value. To suggest that Douvan (who had won at the two festivals previous) got beaten and subsequently injured because he was born during the wrong moon phase is utter garbage in my opinion, though so is the majority of what you write.

If I am garbage what does that make you? A garbage collector? The problem is buddy from what I make out you haven't understood what I have written.

Just because Douvan has won at cheltenham two times before had nothing to do with my reasoning.

I am happy doing what I do and I enjoy it, really know need for the insults. I fully respect your opinion but if you don't like what I say or write why bother poking me?

Astrology is popular all over the world and there a lot of people who believe in it.

There is a massive piece of rock that floats above us every day called the moon. It controls our oceans our gravity. Science still cannot explain how or why it is there.

I am just sharing information which I know exists which could interset like minded open people.

I think you talk a load of rubbish for being so un open about life. Imagination is only limited by your mind my friend.

Although you could we be right but as far as I am concerned I have seen the effect the moon has on racing results.

Khalid Abdullah and Coolmoore don't breed there horses based on the phase of the moon for no reason. Maybe they talk garbage too.

I am just open to what interset me and anything I could use as an edge or to educate me.

I aplogies for posting.

A yard I was working for once was planning and asked by the owner to get a horse ready for a particular race.
etc.
Thanks for taking the time to post this story SHR, I really enjoyed reading it. Although I would never want to work in the horse racing industry (too much hard work for very little money) I do find it fascinating and like to read about things like this.

Would also be fascinating to know why the owner took the horse out of the yard after that run at Southwell.

Was the jockey under instructions to not get competitive that day too, as the owner had missed the price?

Or was the horse trying and the gamble went astray so the owner lost patience and moved the horse to another yard to a trainer who could get the horse ready?

Owner decided to move his flat horses to Dave Evans and keep his NH horses at the yard....

Really enjoyed the read SHR you do have a well structured story telling talent it appears! May I ask did you find the whole experience enjoyable attending the race as company to the yard? Have you ever done this again?
