Traded a bit yesterday and thought it was okay. Nothing special but okay enough, I would say fine for the vast majority of traders - especially swing traders.
Massive divergence in underlying liquidity on Betdaq and Betfair today.
Betfair top line numbers have held up but I can get a bloody thing filled in full. It's dire.
But going to have my best non feature day on Betdaq, which is a dream in comparison.

Are you favouring any one particular style on BD Peter? e.g. scalping, swing etc.
Also do you have anything from the data you have been capturing for a while now?
Cheers.

I noticed that today too, particularly on the earlier races, up to about 4pm, after that i was struggling to get filled on both exchanges.
There seemed to be quite a few price discrepancies between the two exchanges today too, particularly on the earlier races, with small cross exchange arbs being available on a couple of the favourites. On a couple of occassions the price was moving first on Betdaq and then Betfair followed as opposed to the other way round as usually happens.
York seemed strong today on Betdaq, i dont know if the figures back that up?

Y, Volumes at York on arrival were well above normal for Betdaq. Other races were good to better. But the feel was so different yesterday for some reason.
Typically you see 10-15% of BF's money on BD but on key races this can easily balloon to double that number. If you measure fill rate as a function of quality of market then Betdaq is better than Betfair now, but that's only because of the decline on BF. I know scalpers are complaining about this on BF.
We saw the data take a sharp drop on BF if Feb. Almost overnight. Odd.

During winter months it looked almost double at times to previous years to me. However, overall volume means nothing really. The market is only as old as the last money entered.
I don't think upgrading the software is going to make much difference to the liquidity TBH. Despite all that HUGE work we did, we are not seeing any +ve impact on numbers. That's a real shame. Adding the automation should have meant it wouldn't cost much effort to add liquidity to the market, but it looks like few people actually did it.
I think Betdaq are 'trying' but it does seem half hearted from this side of the fence.
I had something recently where a Betdaq rep was suppose to call me as they were running a promotion for people running automation. (I suspect it wasn't as selective; i guess lots of people got the same email!
)
I didnt get the call; but I got a code to offset some of the losses.
I tried the In running, but it just wasn't up to scratch unfortunately.

It is a real shame that more traders havent got behind this. When you read around social media and blogs there is always lots of talk about how bad the service on betfair has become, and how unfair the charges are and lots of talks of boycotts and moving to Betdaq, though it seems very few are willing to put their money where their mouth is, and are just happy to carry on with the status quo. Even when presented with the perfect opportuinity to do something about it.
Ive been trading both exchanges for a while now, and to be honest i thought everybody was doing it. It amazed me when i read how low the numbers were, and that was before betangel put all the effort in upgrading the software and helping with promotions, to read that people still arent taking it up is beyond belief.
Personally i need to be trading both exchanges to make a respectable daily total. Betfair has become that weak for me that if I wasnt trading on Betdaq too it wouldnt be worth my while. I thought everybody would be doing the same, especially those paying the charges, but it seems not.
