He may be able to close his position using the website or by phoning Betfair.

There was plenty of liquidity when I accessed Betfair through the website.

API down but website working. We've seem to be taking on too much of a risk in presuming a reliable API. Betfair seem not to be too concerened.

Unfortunately, they won't.

If they did, then criminals might bring down Betfair in order to have their bets voided.

I was clicking away laying the horse that went on to win, nothing appeared to be matched but I'm starting to get very nervous now as no balance is coming up when I log in via code 0 :(

On the front page of the main site there is a message (graphic) saying "Apologies, we are experiencing intermittent difficulties..."

When you click the link it takes you to a page that states "There are currently no reported problems with any Betfair site."

sedge 15:45, kemp 15:55 are suspended.
mrktr 1605 is frozen

the races after up appear to be ok. they are updating,
have placed a couple £2 bets ok.

it does not seem to be the usual crash.

Communication isn't one of Betfair's strong points, it has to be said...

I don't blame you!

I'm not going to repeat the mistake I made a couple of weeks ago, when I used Betfair after it had gone down earlier in the day, in the belief that the underlying problems had been resolved...

All today's gains wiped out in one race when I couldn't close - makes you want to spit!
