Folks,
I have a rules file in Guardian with a lot of rules that I want to apply to multiple markets, but using a selection name in each market, rather than row position or index.
From a lot of experimenting, it would seem that the only way I can do this is to create a generic one with all the rules (say using position), then edit, update the row position to the selection name, and save as a new rules files (with the race name to identify), and then apply to the market in question.
I feel I am missing something, and there would be a much efficient way of doing this..?
Any pointers greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Steve
Multiple Guardian rules - by selection.
That is correct. As soon as you use a selection name in a rule you are making it so specific that it will only apply to a single market. Unless you can create conditions that choose the selection based on more generic criteria (such as price) you'll need one rule file per market.Blackmoor wrote:it would seem that the only way I can do this is to create a generic one with all the rules (say using position), then edit, update the row position to the selection name, and save as a new rules files (with the race name to identify), and then apply to the market in question.
Thanks for your reply.
I'm been thinking about this some more, and I think the only way I could accomplish this would be with some code. I was thinking I could process my spreadsheet with selection and market info, and generate a .baf file on the fly for each entry (based on my template). Once created they could be manually imported, and assigned to markets individually.
I suppose what it missing (for me) is a selection name constant/synonym, which all the rules in the rules file could reference, and also a way of bulk importing rules.
Is the .baf file format published anywhere ? or is it just a case of working it out from an existing exported rules file ?
Whilst not the fully automated solution I was really looking to achieve, this approach would reduce some of the effort involved with, and deal with my human error issues when updating the rules..

Really pleased to see the new "nominated selection" option within Guardian rules in 1.42 beta. This allows me to easy achieve what I was originally attempting to do.
It works a treat, and will save me a lot of time in daily setup.
