I read this morning that BT sports outbid SKY for the next Ashes series. It's getting beyond a joke now. If you are a sports fan you're going to need SKY and BT Sports. There is a limit to how much people can afford.

Time for the government to reduce the ridiculous amount of foreign aid we spend and give it to the BBC for the sole purpose of showing all English cricket, major golf, Champions league, Premier league football, major horse races and Wimbledon.

It depends on what way you look at it, if it wasn't for tv money english football wouldn't have best league in the world, go back 25 years ago when tv money was low most of england top football players where playing for Rangers they even had what i would class the best england player of all time Gazza! if he was playing today he would be playing in the english prem league earning a million a month.

You forgot greyhounds. I agree, less money should go to starving kids in Africa and more money should go towards sports coverage.

I dont think the Premier league is the best league in the world. Certainly if you judge it by performances against the elite of europe in the champions league, they fall behind nearly every time
The premier league is just the best money maker, circus, drama house in the world, for sure

Spot on for me, it's by far the most interesting league in the world, that's why I love to watch it as well.

It's getting very expensive now though. I think it's too expensive for most people who just want to watch their team. Despite paying for both I couldn't watch the Southampton match anywhere yesterday. Apart from if I was in the US for example, where it would have been pretty much free.

I preffered it when there was less money in football. Most of the players were English or Scottish and most people supported their local club. I gave up on football when so many foreign players came into the game. I supported Leeds United back in the Revie day. A lot of players were from Scotland but a lot were local lads as well and you could identify with the club. Liverpool were also great and they had loads of Scousers playing for them.

Now the only reason clubs do well is because they have found a stinking rich owner who can afford the best players from abroad. Where is the pride in following a team which is only good because it has a rich foreign owner?

In Aus we can watch every EPL game on FOX as well as every UCL game on free-to-air. Everything seems to cost so much money here!!

I watch Sky/BT/etc via satellite (CS + rotating dish), it costs about 12 quid per month for access to basically every channel on every EU satellite, but people mostly use it to watch sports channels that they wouldn't be able to watch otherwise.

I mean, it's practically free, all one needs is a Dreambox receiver or a cheap dvb-s2 tuner for the PC.

How do you know where to point the dish though? Do you need a massive dish?

I'm sure there must be plenty of online options these days if its not for trading purposes. I pay about 9 quid a month and get all the UK channels and more.

In the middle east Al Jazerra streams every PL match live for around 10 quid a month, also every CL game, La Liga etc
We are being ripped off so much to watch a few football matches its not funny. Thats why Sky keep promoting the drama and controversy cause its keeps us interested and paying a subscription

It all comes down to what people are willing to pay, middle east £10 here the highest amount they can get away with, as long as we keep paying they will keep charging high amounts.

True. Having seen what Sky recently paid for football rights from next year on i imagine we will be asked to pay more too.

With software like DVB Viewer and such. I think you may need a massive dish depending on your location, I bought the largest one that I legally could.

I'm not a satellite enthusiast, I just know enough to set up "cardsharing", for any details you can PM me and I can point you in the right direction.
