Sad times for Bolton Wanderers. One of the founders of the football league look like they are about done. Couldn't afford to pay the players last month and now can't even pay the office staff in Dec. It's that bad that a go fund me page has been set up to try and get enough money to pay the office staff for xmas :(

Is Gartside's illness due to the stress of Bolton's demise, or is it not related at all?

Sad they cant pay the office staff, not too bothered about the players.....they all will have all earned may times the average salary already this year apart maybe from the kids.
Terribe financial management, whoever was to blame should be ashamed of themselves.

I've never been to Bolton in my life, but as a football fan I'd be sad to see them fold - Bolton have a huge history in the game

1) 13 years in the PL, 73 years in England's top flight
2)One of 12 founder members of the Football League in 1888
3) First club to win the FA Cup at Wembley in 1923, in the White Horse Final
4) Winners of the FA Cup 4 times, beaten finalists in 3
5) Twice beaten finalists in League Cup

With all the money in the PL, how could English football simply let a club like Bolton just fold?

Yes, I know they have been very poorly managed, but something could be done surely, even if it's just to cover wages whilst they find a buyer

You would have to think Gartside illness has been brought on in some way feom the stress. He's never been well liked or trusted in Bolton for a long time as the figures just never really seemed to add up.

Dean Holdsworth and stelios are suppose to have groups interested but there doesn't seem to be anything concrete. It's even unclear as to what is for sale. There is debt of 180 mil to the owner but he has said he will drop most of that but nothing clear as far as I've heard.

Hoping they can carry on in any league being a terrace fan for years but if not, then hopefully it's a lesson for others to work within there means.

You might end up like Pompey and slip down to League 2! But I imagine Bolton supporters would be happy to take that, if it meant the club survived and had a future

The decline started when they sacked Big Sam after finishing 6th in the Premier League. How crazy was that?

There were rumours that sam was bashing away at gartside mrs. Whether it's true or not I don't know.

Hi LeTiss. Not a football fan myself, but to see a man so young (63 ISN'T old these days) succumb to this ancient and too often deadly disease, makes me realise just how lucky I am.
