First rule of warfare: Never attack when your enemy wants you to.
No party is likely to get a majority in the current climate so why gamble now when the cost could be 5 more Tory years. Much better to wait for a better opportunity.

Everybody will take and lose votes from everyone else. Because a general election will be used to decide a single non party issue. It would be an abuse of the principals of general elections. If there's to be a vote on Brexit that needs to be the only thing on the ballot and a general election then used to decide the way forward from that.

My gut says you're right. But then I've been wrong at every point from the Scottish Referendum onwards. I was very moved by the Dutch representative at the EU. He was in tears and didnt want us to leave. But the UK has always had a special relationship with holland and long may it continue. I love the people and country. At the moment i live in a house with 3 Dutch women, so i am probably biased.

Heard an interesting stat the other day, using the usual comparison with our fellow members of the G7, since 2016 Brexit has cost us £170bn in lost growth as at the end of 2019 (rising to £200bn at the end of 2020) and our total net contributions to the EU since 1972..... £180bn.
