This one is a surprise: "The Markets List now supports up to 5 Automation Rules"

I suppose it literally means that we can run 5 different automations on one race? Woohoo.

How does it work in practice? Are history lists and SVs etc siloed into each automation? Can they be passed through / shared to other automations? Hw about client=side rules like Number of Bets Placed? Is that per automation?

Automation
Custom Ranking
- adds the ability to rank selections based on your own weighting/score (using Stored Values)
New 'Update Custom Ranking Of Selections' rule type with parameters to assign one of five custom rankings per market.
Each time the rule is triggered, the ranking will be updated based on your selected options
Options to Rank selections by the Back price, Lay Price, LTP, SP, or Volume or based on the value of a Stored Value or Historical Stored Value (at chosen point in time).
Ascending or Descending order
.
Thanks for this update! Can a tutorial be made on how to use the ranking/sorting by stored value? It would truly be helpful. I have been struggling to make this work despite guidance from Dallas.

It would be truly helpful if there was either a script using this new function or some kind of guide/tutorial.

Thanks once again

Stored Values are local to each automation instance unless marked as Shared, so if you stick to local ones then the SVs in multiple rules on the same market won't interfere with each other. History Lists are always shared, so yes care will need to be taken when running rules in parallel.
Things like number of Unmatched Bets and number of Matched Bets is shared because they are held in the market at the exchange.

With regard to the 'Number of Place Bet Triggers' condition, that is always local to a specific automation instance, so multiple rules will maintain their own counts.

Dallas has just published an Automation file that makes use of Custom Ranking viewtopic.php?f=52&t=22810 to ranking selections in reverse order by Back Price. If you download the file and edit it, there's a good description in the Notes area. So that's a good starting point, but yes we can explain it further as required.

That example just ranks the selections the once, but they will be re-ranked everytime you trigger 'Update Custom Ranking Of Selections', so if you wanted a constant ongoing ranking for display in a Stored Value on the One-Click screen, then you could trigger that rule once a second if you wanted and then copy the ranking for Every selection into an Stored Value.

Hi Dallas,

Sorry if I missed something on this but...
How to add race distance on a new column on Guardian?
There seems to be no options for that available and also couldn't find how to have it stored on a store value in order to display?

Thanks

Dev

Betfair don't actually publish the race distance on the API apart from embedding it in the market name itself. However we already parse that for the Race Distance automation condition and the format has been stable for a number of years, so we could easily make that available as a new Market Information item for Guardian's Markets List.

I placed 3 lay bets and lost I don't understand why GREEN ALL P&L is green (0,13) if I lost them

once the race is over and all odds are *gone*, then your screen will reflect the position that you would have been in had that particular selection won.

this is normal behaviour, even if not expected ;)

I thought that green p & l would update after the market was resolved would tell me if I had won or lost

thx jim

quick question.
In guardian, when you save, automation rules and automation nominated selections, when these save, and you close guardian, then open guardian they are saved, but does/should they be flushed out if you log out of bet angel?

When you close Guardian it is just hidden from view until you open it again, so markets/rules/nominations will always be remembered in that situation.
Those two new tick boxes relate to the saving and restoring of the rules & nominations between one Bet Angel session and the next. i.e Previously, when you shutdown Bet Angel it would forget assigned rules & nominations even when you Saved Markets, but now you have the option to remember them.

If you wish to clear them quickly (having previously saved them) on restarting Bet Angel you can use the right click menu on Guardian’s Markets List.

ok thanks, then I have an issue here, I clicked both boxes and saved the layout before I closed Guardian, I opened Guardian again and the lists for automation and the selections were both there ok, but, if I then log out of the BA session and log in again Guardian does NOT have the automation and the selections kept, which I assume from your explanation they should be there, is there anything that would clear these on logout / login ...i.e. a setting that may have been changed or that I can check as the functionality does not appear to working for me as you explained and there need to check my settings / setup ... many thanks.

Hi guys, thanks for the new release, I haven't studied it yet but from the announcement it seems to have a number of facilities I have supported especially the ability to sort SV's. :)

But ... may I suggest a tidying up of the wording in the [staking] "By Liability as A Percentage of Balance" wording in the manual. It currently reads ... "This calculates therefore if you had £500 in your account and entered 10% a stake of £50 would then be used as your liability, meaning if you." ... :)

A trivial point compared to the facilities BA affords (the heading shouldn't need explanation) but maybe confusing to Newbies. :)
