Bulls, Bears and Starlings

Flash mobs are swarming over the stock market. These aren't predatory hedge funds or high-frequency trading firms wielding massive computing power, though. They're self-taught amateur traders — and they're making investment professionals look like idiots.

Just as a follow up, remember that in many of these tech stocks there are founders and other insiders who do not hold their shares in the custody system. Most retail are not in the custody system. That leaves instos. So the free float of shares in the custody system might be only 60% of all issued shares.

Some instos prohibit their custodian from lending out shares but most are willing to take the 15 to 20 basis points that comes with lending out their shares. It’s a nice little kicker on their earnings in a very low interest rate environment.

And then between all the custodians and prime brokers those shares are borrowed and sold, borrowed and sold, borrowed and sold. That’s how with 40-60% of free float you get up above that in percentage shorted. And that’s why a short squeeze can get very painful for those on the short side. You see from my example how there are only 50 shares in the market to satisfy 150 shares of borrow. And bingo was his namo.
Cheers Gazuty - I didn't appreciate that )

Hit $504 in pre-market earlier.

I bought mine at $84.5. Trading212 aren't allowing any further buying.

We all know it's a sham, and this is exposing it for everyone to see.

Proof that sports betting markets are more efficient than financial markets :)
Caring about what's value is left for those with patience or the bewildered... Day Traders simply do not care, their attention is within volatility, volume and direction. Low float stocks under $20 gapping on news with relatively high volume can go parabolic in the morning & return from space in the afternoon.

The hype on GME will be dead soon, a new fad will hit the internet & those who are patient and wait for the birds to flock elsewhere can then reap the rewards of the value created.

There is an area within every market that shows this characteristic, fomo & herd mentality are the drivers... it's not something that should ever be complained about because ultimately it creates a buffet of value.

American Airlines might be next for Reddit traders.....might have gone to big too soon with that one.

Great to see the Hedge funds (some of them) taking a hit. The SEC will put a stop to this if they see the high rollers getting burnt....shows you how the system is fixed in every aspect of life.

Probably not. Although I've followed Ross for years and he's a very good trader but an AW on a wet Thursday evening not a chance.

Warrior Trading (not plug intended) is an amazing channel that teaches you all aspects of day trading the US equitiy market. It makes me laugh he was a cashier in a petrol station when an old school friend come in and he asked what he was up to. His friend said trading and the rest is history.....Ross seems to be the real deal....he shows you everything he does, how and why, big wins and big losses. He is a great communicator as well. Watched him for years......the only thing is you need a $25,000+ in cash to open an account in the US.

Maybe one day, soon.

You don't need to open one in the US.... you can get around the PDT rule by using an offshore broker. He does recommend one and also there is Vlog on his youtube where he starts off using that offshore broker and when he got to 25k he swapped to Lightspeed but yeah he is the real deal, I've been in his chatroom for 12 months nearly and I've watched him trade live for that period of time. Really nice bloke too, very humble with a bag full of patience for people... a lot like Peter.
