I'm genuinely torn by this. Was really looking forward to Djokovic playing the unwilling heel for the crowd.
But public health has got to come first and it would have been a PR disaster if he was allowed to play. The Aussie public made their feelings clear.

Odds going out on the back of that. Am I missing something or is it worth just backing him? Looking at the rules if he doesn't start the tournament bets are void so the repricing based on him not starting makes no sense... He doesn't start and it's void, he does and his odds come back in.gazuty wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 9:41 pmDenied entry - https://www.theage.com.au/national/visa ... 59m75.html
Yep. Bets void if he doesn’t start. So yes backing is a reasonable strategy. In fact that is the very strategy Betfair itself published to vip accounts this week.aperson wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 9:47 pmOdds going out on the back of that. Obviously make your own assessment of the rules. Don’t take my word for it.

It's crazy how inefficient the market is sometimes. People literally betting on something that can't happen. Happens all the time on VAR with pens. Keep on thinking the market will learn but it never seems to.gazuty wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 9:49 pmYep. Bets void if he doesn’t start. So yes backing is a reasonable strategy. Yep. After this I can’t see him ever coming back. Crowd will be incredibly hostile even in future years (is my guess).

He'll be back. I think Djokovic is one of those people who'll use it as motivation.
As far as he's concerned he's done nothing wrong so he'll probably get great mileage out of playing the victim.

The Serbian president isn't happy, he's calling it harassment and Djokovic's father is saying "my son was held in captivity".
You’d think his teams opinion, considering he’s the worlds No. 1 would hold some weight in his decision making (not like they’ve failed him before). I mean, surely he isn’t disregarding their advice?. His team must be made up of top Dr’s, Data Scientists, Psychologists etc etc. It’s interesting that they haven’t been able to get him to take a simple jab. You’d think that they all have nothing to lose here.
