Hi,

over the last few weeks I have been running a test. If I see a fruit machine with credit on it I top up the credit and have some low cost spins. For example, instead of paying 50p for two spins I pay 30p if there is 20p credit left on a machine. From a total of around £5 I have won around £27 which I have kept. My best is turning about 40p in to £16

Last night there was a slot machine with 15p on. I put in 10p to make the minimum spin and won £6 which I withdrew and kept.

Do slot machine have a tendency to pay out early to get people talking about them?

I very rarely use slow machines. Think I would a good 10 years without using one. I remember a colleague years ago who losing all her wages at lunch to slot machines so I know how dangerous they can be.

Nowadays, live casino slot machines are programmed with a "return to player" percentage, (adjustable). Despite certain theories a machine is "ready to pay", anyone can randomly win at any time. You could rock up and put in £20, first spin, big payout, or shovel in £100's, pick up some small bonuses and eventually run through your money.

All you see now are slot machines in casinos ar they are low cost to maintain and make their quota per square footage. Card rooms in many UK casinos, and in Vega,s have closed to make room for them.

They are classed as entertainment value for the customer who should expect not to win, but have some enjoyment with all the flashing lights and music to while away an hour or so. They are considered a good way of earning comps if you play them regularly with a players card, anything from free meals, rooms, shows, private jets...etc

Turns out we were wrong, sentient AI doesn’t want world domination. It just wants to empty arcade machines.
