VPS trial
Hi
I dont know if BA do a trial anymore?
If they dont you could try :
http://www.tagadab.com/uk/virtual-private-servers/trial
Select VS500 Windows 2003 32 bit)
I still have a couple of VPS with them direct and also a couple with BA.
Ba is slightly more expensive, but you get a modified version of Betangel (Server Edition) which runs faster, and in my opinion worth the extra fiver a month
If you do trial it..you will need to download your application files to the server (ie Excel and Betangel)
Good Luck!
regards
Peter

Hi Peter, when you say the server version of BA runs faster is that solely due to the fast connection of a VPS being hosted in a well-connected data centre or is the software different in someway to the standard BA?
The reason I ask is I run the standard BA s/ware on my hosted desktop and it runs quicker than locally due to decreased ping times etc.
Is there any additional advantage to the server version of BA other than quicker ping times?

Hi Dave
BA will probably comment but as I understand it, the code is "tweeked" to take advantage of the reduced latency.
So to answer your question : Yes it is different. I stand to be corrected, but I think thats the correct answer

Thanks Peter, sounds like it's worth me pinging a mail to support to clarify.

Anyone can host any services you like from your VPS, including web hosting and email accounts; install entry databases running on MySQL or MS SQL here?
