Hi Ya,
I am new on here so sorry if this has been covered before, but i am practising the automated bot " the likely winner" which i imported direct from the forum, but it keeps making bets at odds different to the conditions.
It has so far today backed numerous in the 1.5's and even 1.6's even though it is obviously set at 1.2. Am i doing something wrong even though i have not changed a thing or is this common.
Thank you
Mikky

It will try and back at 1.2, but will take the best price at the time your trade enters the market, which is 1 second delay when in running.

Thank you Mikky, that would make sense but counteracts the reason for using the bot at 1.2 or 1.3 or whatever.

But if you were looking to back the likely winner and you got a price of 1.5/1.6 over 1.2, would that not be a good thing?

Have you got the condition set that the horse must have traded under X.XX price, for the Fixed Odds Condition?

Set that a few ticks above the final price you want it to take, but remember when the odds are hitting 1.2 in a close race they are going to jump all over the place very quickly.

What about your refresh rates for the automation, are they set to 200m/s?

Dallas will be able to explain far better than I, but when you are backing later on you are going to have to be lucky to get exactly the price you want.

Hi Mikky,
You would think 1.5 is better than 1.2 wouldn't you but it seems that as I want to bet at 1.2 because there is more likelyhood of the horse winning and i am geting 1.5 is that it is drifting immediately it gets near to the 1.2 trigger even in races not that close and therefore a lot less certain to win and going by the last few days that seems to be the case.
I have it set at last matched price at <1.4 but seems to make no difference.
I am trying to set it up with a stop loss as well but not doing a very good job of that either in fact I am having a bit of a disaster when all i want to do is back at around 1.25 and lay off if it drifts to say around 1.7 ish.
thanks for your help.

My advice to newbies is use practice mode for testing strategies, but get out into the real markets ASAP

Nobody ever learned to ride a bicycle properly until the took the stabilisers off and risked falling over!

Practice mode doesn't prepare you for the mental battle ahead when playing with actual money.

Even if your stakes are small, I think that's a better way to learn personally

... plus, alas practice mode is fine on smaller stakes, but once you go for large stakes (especially IP), then you'll find the behaviours are very different (and not just in terms of matching, also in terms of the actual prices that do get matched -sometimes live mode gets better results than practice, sometimes vice a versa).

try before buy by all means (and definitely for any new conditions that you add), but get out there asap on small stakes and build them up along with confidence.
