Hi I have a few question for anyone who knows a bit about bookmaking, and also how best to use the bookmaker tab in bet angel.
1)under the margin maker in the bookmaker tab there is a winners tab, what is this for? how best is it used?
2)Is it possible to lay say 4 out of a 10 runner field with the bet angel bookmaking tab? because I have been trying with small stakes and when do this all the bets get submitted at 1.01 for a 2 pound stake!? what am I missing?
3)when laying the whole field of say 10 runners and you don't get matched with 3 or so runners, what should one do next??
4)what do the on track bookies do in the above situation?? If they an incomplete book?
I am aware of the reduction factor risk if you want to be a layer on bf.
I am very interested to hear all and any resposes, I would be grateful for any information or suggestions on the subject as it is one I find fascinating.
Thanks
Bookmaking anyone?
The winners refers to the amount of winners in the market - for example, if you're trading on Premier League relegation there's 3 winning selections. This will make the book 300% and above. This is why bookmaking on Horses to be placed market so dangerous.
Yes, you can lay less than 10 runners, but obviously this will impact on how profitable your book is. If your prices haven't been taken you will need to use a calculator and re-enter an order manually to lay the whole book.
For traditional bookies they can lay money off if a book exceeds the liability set (hence the reason some cynics believe they distort some Betfair markets). For track bookies it's more of a white knuckle ride
