Betfair username vs registered email address

I'm just about to start my betangel trial and already have my betfair account but I don't appear to have a username there at betfair, and the activation video I just watched seems to imply I need one. I only have a registered email address, and that's what I use to login to betfair in a browser.

Did betfair stop offering/requiring usernames and betangel will accept an email address instead of username? Or do I need to apply for a username. I don't see anything at betfair where it lets me choose one.

Googling betfair username shows that a betfair user name "is still a thing".

I just went through that forgotten username process and they emailed it to me, it was just my email address. Strange. Oh well.

Yep looks like they've dumbed the account registration down to get people thru quickly, emails as usernames isn't exactly best practice when it comes to security.

Have you logged ito Betfair on the website and gone to the My Details page https://myaccount.betfair.com/accountdetails/mydetails Tha's where the username is displayed and you have access to allow/disallow login access with your email. There's an edit button to change things like email password etc maybe it'll let you set a username there.
