Hi. Just wandering if anybody can help. I have just tried to create what I thought would be a simple rule but I must be doing something wrong.
Just wanted to back a selection if it's price hits say 1.5 using the settings below but as soon as the race goes in play it matches me at whatever the current price is, ie on the selection / race just gone, it backed at 5.7 rather than wait until it hits 1.5. Settings were:
place back bet
relative to in play
arm at 01 sec until 8 mins
1 trigger, 3 sec re-arm
parameter being fixed price, odds of 1.5
in play condition of "market is in play"
Cheers, Paul
Automation help
Betfair will always match you at the best odds available as your bet hits the market so you need to add a condition to stop the bet being placed until trading nearer the odds, so if you add the condition
"fixed odds condition"
by position (sorted in order of favourtism) 1
Last traded price
is less than 1.55
That will hold off your bet till its trading near the price you want to place it at
There is a ready made file you can download which does what your wanting if you still get stuck

Hi again Dallas
Just tried that and it works perfect, thanks. However, I am trying to incorporate this rule as part of a wider strategy / system.
As part of other rules I am selecting the fav just before off and I want the rule you have just helped me with to apply to that starting fav, however it obviously applies to the in play fav and so backs a different horse.....Is there a way to get it to automatically apply to my original selection?
Al the best, Paul

Yes there is several way to ensure it only triggers on a certain horse, depending on exactly what your doing pre-race or with your wider strategy will depend on the best way to go about it.
For example if the rest of your strategy is only focusing on a single runner and this is the one you want to back if its odds shorten then you can just add the following condition to what you already have
"Number of matched bets condition"
on the selection ANY
is "greater" then 0
It will now ignore any runners you have not traded on and therefore have no matched bets

Hi Dallas. Only just came back to pc and seen your reply. Just tried it, it works perfect!! Thank you so much. If I wanted to add a lay rule in in-play also, ie if odds got to about 25 would I use the same settings? I have just tried with a lay bet but setting as last traded price is greater than 24 with that one but it didn't trigger? Cheers
Yes it can be done in the same way but in reverse just as you have done, when you say it did nt trigger are you sure thats the case? it may of triggered but was not matched if the odds drifted to qucikly?
You would need to check your log to see if this was the case

Hi again. Ah, maybe it did trigger then, I don't have log from yesterday now unfortunately but I will run today and check. I am certain though that it didn't show up as an unmatched lay on either betfair or guardian so wouldn't that be an indication of it not having triggered?
Are there any techniques that would help a lay get matched when odds drift too quickly / can it simply be down to just asking for too big a price, and nobody willing to back at that price and stake you have offered?
Cheers

Unmatched bets would only show till the race had finished then dissapear once the market had settled.
Depends on the circumatances of the drift for example in a NH race odds will go from whatever there currently trading at to 1000 in a instant if a horse falls, in this case no manual or autmation will be able to get a lay bet matched (it will be trigged as the price passes but just remian unmatched) this can also happen in the final moments of any race, a horse that was looking like winning can go from 1.3 to 1000 in one swoop and theres nothing that can be done your at the mercy of the on-course traders
