Hi,

This is my first post and I'm fairly new to betangel! I was just wondering if anyone had tried to lay a drifting favourite in a horse race, get successfully matched and then back and get matched at a higher price for a successful trade using automation for all of this. I tried to do it today on practice mode but made a royal balls up of it! Lol.

E.g betfair sp is 2.50

Drifts out to 6.0 in running ( which is where I would want bet Angel to lay for me )

Carries on drifting to say 10.0 but I would want my back bet fired in at around 7.5/8.0

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

The first thing you need to do is set a rule type
"Fix Market Order"
and arm this 1 sec after the race goes in-play and trigger just the once (that will now remember the betting order at that moment for the duration of the race so the rest of the rule can be focused on the fav even when/if it drifts)

Now add the following
General
Place a lay bet
armed 00:00:03 (which gives the above fix order above chance to trigger first)
till 00:10:00
trigger 1 time
Applies to selection Sorted in (order of favoutism) 1

Parmaters
Fixed odds 6.0
Stake (what ever you want)
Offset with greening
10 ticks
Fill & kill 15 secs (or however long you want to leave the bet in market if not matched instantly)
Batches 1

Conditions
"Fixed odds condition"
selection Sorted in (order of favoutism) 1
Actual SP is less than 2.5

"Fixed odds condition"
selection Sorted in (order of favoutism) 1
Back price is greater than 5.7

That should do it

ok, depending on your definition of what is fave (pre-race??) your rule would go something like this:

1. Place a Lay bet (relative to inplay time 00:00:10 -> 00:10:00). Applies to: Guardian Nominated Selection 1
2. Add the parameters -> Place at *Best Market Price*, Stake-> *By liability*
3. Global settings: Action: Offset bet with greening
i. Offset (ticks): 10
4. Conditions: Fixed odds condition: Nominated (Guardian Nominated Selection 1) back price is greater than 5.9

That's the bare bones of what you'd need. of course, you could also fix the order pre-race and the position by favouritism would remain as it was at that point in time, thus you could use that, rather than using Guardian Nominated Selection 1.

I'll pop a quick file up for you in 15 mins or so to kick things off...

Spooky how it was timed to the same minute :)

Thanks dallas and jimibt,

I really appreciate your fast responses, have either of you used this strategy before? Was it successful?

Thanks again guys! ;)

Hi Dallas and Jimibt,

I was wondering if you could help me out again with the strategy I asked you about yesterday, I've created the rules and other info you gave me Dallas but I'm finding the back bet is being taken before the lay bet on some of the races, I've used it on four races today and so far so good ( probs a bit of beginners luck thrown in there! ) please correct me if I'm wrong but is this because of the speed and volatility of the market inplay? Is there a way I can make sure my lay bet gets matched before the back bet?

Regards

Stef

Doesn't sound like you are using fill or kill bets?

Fill & kill 15 secs (or however long you want to leave the bet in market if not matched instantly)
If you look at what Dallas said this was a requirement. That way the first part will wait to be matched then the set part of the bet goes in.
