I have just been playing around with dutching a horse race in live mode and managed to place bets in the same race of 0.49, 0.49, 0.64, 0.78, 1.09 and 4.14 (all in GB Pounds). Does the £2 minimum bet not apply here ? Or is it just £2 minimum per event rather than per selection ? Or, have I somehow flouted the law !
Thanks

You are able to use stakes below via Bet Angel, when ever an amount below £2 is submitted the software places £2 at odds of 1000.0 then instantly removes the excess amount and moves the original amount that's left to the odds you submitted it at.

When doing this in-play because there is a delay on all bets placed there is a very small risk that the £2 may be matched while still at 1000.0 if the odds of that selection drift out at the exact moment your £2 stake is there but before BA has been able to remove the excess so it can adjust the remaining amount to the correct odds - but this is very very rare and a small price to pay for the ability to be able to use below £2 bets for both opening bets and greening.

Thanks for the reply. Thats pretty clever stuff. However is it against Betfair rules in any way, particularly if I did a lot of these ? (Just being overly cautious by asking this)

Its perfectly ok to do it via the software, often amounts below £2 are needed when greening up and trying to archive a total even green, the only thing you need to take into consideration is your total number of hourly transactions which are explained here
