Back to basics
So here we are, the stench of incinerated sausages ever present, the chest wax done in preparation for the new bikini. But, still something is missing?! Yes, what could be better than running a one week Automation challenge, in real time, to test our collective wits!.

I'd like to propose that as June is on the horizon, we undertake a £10 Summer '16 Trading Challenge. The basic idea would be that those that take part create a simple set of rules and run them next week (from 6th -11th june) and reveal the p/l on a daily basis. This would of course be run in practice mode on a separate instance (unless super confident that yours was indeed the mother of all rulesets, then obviously LIVE :D)!!

At the end of the week, the daily and overall winners are revealed and collective pats on the back are dished all round.

So how would it work?
The basic premise is as follows:

1. Create a simple rule set that uses a £10 stake and is run against all races each day
2. Submit the rule to the post, with an outline of what it does (for verification that this really is your entry :))
3. Ensure that the Guardian P/L function is attached to the rule to make collation simple

What would it achieve?
I think this would be a great little opportunity for oneupmanship (as if that's needed here of course) and all the usual associated banter (my ruleset would no doubt produce the worst p/l each day, but that's not the point - the point is to have a fun way to share knowledge and wisdom). It would also potentially reveal insight into creating tighter rules (as well as maybe thinking of new BA automation features that could keep us all one step ahead).

I know this won't be for everyone, but if it only takes half an hour or so to put together a nice simple ruleset that you think stands a good chance of pushing yourself to match your peers, then that's surely all for the common good. I will kick the ball into play with my entry, but await peer validation on the idea before doing so. Further thoughts and comments both welcome and expected.

Anyway, now to find that tube of immac from last year!!

just a minor distraction and a way to potentially experience insight from others with more knowledge. I will admit that I stand to gain more from this than perhaps yourself, to whom I respectfully defer. Just really a bit of light relief for those that are fumbling for their boarding passes, rather than using their air-miles with any vengeance.

If any of the good traders on the forum were to pitch in and give some advice on what they see in the p@l it would be a good thing for newbies, i wouldn't advice doing it in practice mode thou it won't be accurate account of someones trading.

I had thought that by pinning the stake at £10, then the reality of practice vs live would be (to an extent) moot, thereby still allowing it to be fun and informative. As mentioned in my previous comment, this is definitely going to be more of benefit for noobs like myself and apologise to the more seasoned traders for any feelings of frustration that guys like myself invariably bring to the table.
