I might be worry too much but is it safe to run Excel Bot / Odds Recorder that we download here / online?
As we know macros can be very dangerous and one of the worst things is our Betfair account detail being stolen, as a result the hacker could easily 'transfer' our money to his by a simple trade on Betfair. Unlike bank, there is absolutely no way that Betfair will refund the money to us as they might see this as a bad trade.
Is there any safety function in BA that can block any malicious macros? Since when I open Excel Bot via BA Guardian, Excel does not show any warning message / enter Protected View, it kind of opens a back door for malicious code to run.
Macros safety issue
i appreciate your concern here, however excel macros do not (without your consent -firewall exception or otherwise) act in a malicious fashion without you being aware of it. of course, should you download an excel sheet that is password protected and requests access to your firewall, then i would be very wary. if you need functionality from excel that is not otherwise built into BA, you should ensure that you have 100% control over the macros that run and are 100% au-fait with what is going on.
in a word, you are almost certainly at no risk with anything downloaded from this site, but should be extra vigilant if you download a password protected sheet that you cannot see the inner workings of.
