Anyone using a 4g dongle. Do they incur large data charges or if i connect 1 lap top to the wifi for streaming the live race feeds and the trading screens and pc to the dongle will this limit download charges.

Moved to a new build and the wifi is awful but ok for picking up the pictures. Very sticky to trade though

Cheers

i had the same issue at the start of this year and went with the EE 4GEE osprey 2. I got the biggest data package which was 32gb. I used my broadband for pictures and the 4G just for betangel and it worked fine. I lost connection a handful of times but because i had live video open on a laptop connected to broadband i could close my trade through the main site. You will use alot of data if your connected to the markets alot,i am not a fulltime trader so don't trade many daytimes but evening cards and weekends will chomp through the data on the Horse racing markets. I scaled back a bit to stop my data from running out completely so if you are fulltime that would be a problem.

cheers wobbler.

Its amazing how quick they knock up new build estates and the very last thing they do is plough fibre broadband into them.

I'll get a dongle as back up in the future but looks like it'll be expensive to run it full time as opposed to a hard wired wifi connection.

cheers

sort of related and probably stupid question
i have supposedly the fastest BT broadband connection they do but wi fi signal still drops and i cannot seriously trade whilst this is the case
how do i connect to broadband but NOT by using wifi ?
Will this prove a more reliable platform on which to trade the racing at peak times ?

I use powerline adapters throughout my house which are much more stable than wifi but just as much flexibility

If you search google or anywhere even argos for 'Powerlines' there is any number available here is the first that came up for me

There is no set up and nothing else required apart form what you have and a pair of plugs, you just plug one in next to your router/broardband hub then connect a Ethernet cable from one of the four ports on your router/hub into that plug (just as you would when connecting a computer) stick the other plug (or in my case i have several plugs) in another room and connect another Ethernet cable from that to your laptop or comp and you have full stable internet access via your homes existing electrical circuit.

Only thing to watch out for is the data transfer speeds look for ones of at least 500mb
